So I read a post on CF last week that Discount Tire has factory sizes available for C5 Z F1s, something that has been hard to come by for some time. I ordered a set last week and received notification today that they've come in. I'll apologize for being a skeptic - why were these out of production for so long? - but now that they're here I'd like to know how to read the date code. Curious how "new" they are! I'll report back and thanks for the insight.
Find the DOT number on the side of the tire. At the end of it will be a four digit number, and that's your date code. The first two digits are the week, the last two digits are the year. For example, I have a set of tires with code 4915, so they were manufactured in the 49th week of 2015.

Thank you for your support. It looks like you have located the DOT's, however one being from 2007 and the other indeed looks like it has been removed is of concern. We would like to look into this further, PM headed your way.
For us, we will not sell a tire that is older than 4 years. Most tire and automobile manufacturers recommend replacing your tires between 6 and 10 years.

Although its rather unregulated, we will not sell a new tire that is over 4 years old, with the intentions that at 6 years old the petroleum oils inside the rudder has deteriorated enough it would be recommend to be replaced regardless of wear. Which is why 2007 is a bit concerning.
Wow, you guys are on it at Discount Tire. Hold up though...those pictures are from my CURRENT tires, a set of GY GSD3s that I put on the Z16 in 2007. My question on CF was to understand how to know the manufacturing date on the NEW GYF1s (which have been unavailable for years) that I'm having installed tomorrow. I'll keep everyone posted. Again, good customer service there Discount Tire!
All good with new shoes for Z06/Z16 #165. The tires were made in 2019, fronts mid August and rears late November. Discount Tire took great care of me too. Now to put some miles on these new shoes! Baby is getting new shoes today. Goodyear finally made some factory size F1 Supercar tires again. It's been several years since they were available.
The GY F1s were the OEM tire option and they fit my driving needs as this car sees about 1,500 miles a year. They've not been available for some time or at least every time I was looking. I put the GSD3s on a long time ago (late 2007) because that was pretty much my only option other than some Firestones that had a weird rim saver lip over on them. Really liked the GSD3s especially in the rain (gasp, I know!) back when this was my DD for a little over a year. She's a cruiser now that sees some spirited driving every so often and the F1's fit the bill.

Thanks. I knew that they were OEM. I need new tires yesterday. Let us know how they ride/drive when you get some miles on them.
