I read somewhere about this pin, but is this it and is it supposed to stay out after the hurst install ? Also is this all of it, what I mean is was there supposed to be something more that I missed while in there ?

The pin is called the neutral pin. Keep it, just in case.
You should not need it when installing an aftermarket shifter because the piece the shifter bolts to has already been set. If the trans and torque tube is pulled for any reason, like a new clutch, the pin may be needed to set neutral again. The pin can be used with any shifter.
