Guys I am new in corvette world. 3 years only,
i noticed that corvette is not a limited production vehicle, but it holds its value pretty good compared to almost all brands out there.
what’s the exact reason?
For example
in 2003 Range Rover was sold for 80.000 but today it’s worth 2500.
C5 corvette was 45 grand and it’s still in the mid 10s and z06 is in 20s
bmw 750 was 80k it’s worth 5k now
even sports cars, jaguars, Maserati, etc
I lost a lot on my f430 Ferrari.
whats the reason behind a corvette not being limited vehicle and still keeping its value pretty well ?
There is stigma out there that corvette drops in value fast, but at some point it stabilizes and holds good.
Any used car's value (especially sport cars) is what the purchaser is willing to pay for it. Corvette's are no different. I buy for the fun of owning and driving, not resale. But others have different motives. To each their own.
Reliability drives it at that point. A C5 is a perfectly serviceable daily driver car now even 20 years later. Mine has 273,000 miles on it.
Find a 273,000 mile Range Rover or BMW 7 series. They don't exist. Parts are too expensive to keep them running, so they become worth less and less.
i think that’s on point.
reliable and affordable sports car is almost impossible to find.
Corvette is damn sexy and so fun.
I also think average corvette buyer is pretty established person.
I was taking to a friend who works at Wells Fargo dealer services department she said Subaru and corvette are among the list reposesed cars in USA.
I work at a Subaru dealer. The average customer has a very high income, and over 85% of them have college degrees or something crazy like that. We factory order quite a few cars per month because a higher percentage of the customers just know exactly what they want, and the brand has almost no incentives to speak of, so the cost is what it is.
Similar to Corvettes. There are incentives on them, but nowhere near as many or as frequently as mainline Chevy products (we sell both brands).

zo6 in the 20k range is already past c6 prices. Highly likely that 20k zo6 will sit for a long while until the right buyer comes which is super slim.
The answer is simple. It's all about supply and demand. C5 Corvettes would be much higher today but they made a ton of them. Today there is still more supply than demand (unless you have very specific model, option or color requirements). Older C1, C2 and some C3 cars demand more because people want them and they made fewer of them. Simple business. Some anticipate C5 demand will drop when C8's are readily available and C7 prices fall more. We already see many owners transition from C5 to C7 so don't buy a C5 as an investment, drive it.
It's pretty simple for the C5... It's a Corvette and people like those. Most people that bought the C5 new didn't drive them much keeping milage low and condition good. Add to that, that C5's are reliable and inexpensive to maintain and it all comes together.
Anything that looks that good has to keep a decent value. When I went looking for a Corvette, I budgeted enough to get into a C6. After a pretty much nationwide search and looking at everything up to 2009, I decided that the C5 had the best look. I don't care for the open headlights and the back end is too angular on the newer ones. I spent a lot less than I thought I would but I can't help but look back at this car evry time I park it and walk away.
