Default CCW SPT10 Wheels

I have a 2003 Anniversary Red convertible (non Z06), manual transmission.

Brakes and rotors are all stock.

I have decided to upgrade the wheels to CCW SPT10, 18” in the front, 19” in the rear.

However, I’m not sure about the proper width, backspace, offset & tire size, as I am getting conflicting information.

I’m looking for fitment to be perfect (i.e. flush with front & rear factory fender/quarters).

Anybody have his set up and can help?

Thanks!

CCW has been fitting C5s with wheels for 20 years. They have all the fitment information on file. They will get you set up easily. No conflicting information when you let the manufacturer get you taken care of.

Also, search for the huge "CCW wheel pics" thread. Lots of info in there.
The "sticky" at the top of the page with wheel and tire sizing is very helpful as well. That is why we made it.

Well, I did contact CCW and got measurements that were total different from what I was seeing from researching this forum, hence the reason for my question.

I just was not comfortable with what they were stating/recommending and they told me to contact my preferred wheel company for proper measurement & fitment.

I even contacted them twice and they gave me 2 different fitments, so confidence level in them is low.

This isn’t John’s company anymore.😀

What widths and offsets did you want and what did they recommend?

From what I could tell and wanting to make sure that fitment is perfect (i.e. wheel/tire combo flush with front & rear factory fender/quarters), I think I can go 18x9.5” in front and 19x11” for the rears. Backspace, offset & tire size I’m not sure about and was looking for clarification on these numbers.

My last contact with them, they stated 18x10” (7.75” backspacing, 275/35-18 tire size) for the fronts and 19x11.5” (8.65” backspacing, 305/30-19 tire size) for the rears, both of which would have a 2” lip. However they were pretty clear they could not guarantee perfect fitment with this setup (wheel and tire size) and stressed to go to the “nearest wheel dealer to get measured up for proper fitment” for both wheel and tire size.

I guess I was surprised with that last statement as CCW seems to have sold a few wheels to Corvette owners, especially on this forum, so I thought they would know for sure, hence my confusion.

Any help greatly appreciated!

You shouldn't be surprised. Any wheel manufacturer is smart to say they can't guarantee a perfect fit, because they make the wheels, not the tires. When you choose wheels that are a relatively flush fit, the tire brand, tire model, and tire size becomes the fitment factor. CCW can't predict which tires a customer will be using. For example, I run a "flush" wheel fitment. My Hankook tires run fairly average when it comes to actual tire width. However, if I ran, say, Michelins, the sidewalls would be bulging past my fenders a bit, as Michelins tend to run wider (even when the listed tire size is the same). Hope that clears up any confusion about CCW's statement.

CCW has been greatly impacted by the virus situation and their operations have been curtailed, considerably. Not making excuses for them, just trying to explain some of their issues.

For a C5 fitment, here are some of your options. Note, the above specs are for CCW's SP-series wheel line-up.

On the front, they did offer an 18x9.5 with +56 offset (7.45" backspace) and 2" lip. If you want to fit C6 Z06-size calipers, they offer an 18x9.5 with +48 offset (7.15" backspace) and 1" lip. My SP500 fronts are that latter spec.

As for their 18x10 fronts, their standard spec for those is a +57 offset (7.75" backspace) and 2" lip. No 10" width front, with 2" lip, will clear C6Z calipers and they don't offer a 10" front, with 1" lip.

On the rear, you basically have two options in 19's, either a 19x11 with +54 offset (8.150 backspace) and 3" lip or a 19x11.5 with +65 offset (8.65" backspace) and 2" lip. The 19x11 rear with +54 offset is the same spec rear wheel that's been on my car, for 15yrs. It is CCW's standard 19" rear fitment for C5's and fits very well. The 19x11.5 is an uncommon size and considered max-width for a C5 with oem rear fenders. CCW doesn't make many of them and I can probably understand why they were hesitant to recommend it.

Hopefully, this will clear up some confusion.

USAZR1,

So for a 2003 C5, non Z06 with stock brakes front & rear for CCW's SP-series wheels (of which I believe the CCW SPT10 are part of that series?), I can safely go:

Front setup: 18x9.5 with +56 offset (7.45" backspace) and 2" lip;

Rear setup: 19x11 with +54 offset (8.150 backspace) and 3" lip.

If the above is correct, what would be the general tire size?

Thank you!

C5 brake components are the same, except the Z06 calipers are painted Red.

Yes, those widths and offsets will work fine.

For tires, I have 265/35/18 Hankooks (25.3" tall) on the front and before going widebody, 305/30/19 Hankooks (26.3" tall) on the rear.
Another front tire option is a 275/35/18 @ 25.6" tall.
