I am putting in Doug Rippie stainless steel brake lines and the stainless pistons in my 2002 C5 base model. I took all the lines off and the brackets that hold them to the frame. I failed to mark which brackets go on which corner. Now when installing I am confused which brake line bracket to use on each corner. Two are stamped "396". Two are stamped "728". These are factory brake line brackets. Can anyone tell me what goes on each corner?
Glad you were able to sort it out.
I never paid attention to their being two different brackets. I did find a small photo of an aftermarket vendor's brake system and they showed the same bracket number for front and rear so that did not help.
As you probably discovered, if there was much of a difference between the two brackets it would almost certainly show up when you test fitted each style bracket to one of the corners.
Guess you are now the Forum subject matter expert on brake hose brackets.
Doug Rippie could have had a better package. I probably will not purchase from them again. 1. They did not include brake line clips. I had to make a trip out to purchase clips. 2. There was no instructions or descriptions with the brake lines. I was unable to find any supporting videos online for the brake lines. 3. There were instructions with the stainless steel pistons, but the online videos for the pistons were very short, hand no narration, and were minimally helpful. 4. Most importantly, I paid for USPS priority shipping and they shipped UPS ground. That caused the shipment to arrive too late for installing last weekend. When I notified them the shipment was sitting an hour away in Denver they had the opportunity to update the shipment to get it too me in time, but they didn't acknowledge my call or email. 4. Their site https://www.dougrippie.com/ seemed to be down on Saturday 05/30.2020.
I feel having good online video on a product seems is the standard now days.
