For reasons of one over the other.
I tried having the passive on but it was driving me crazy in the garage hearing the doors locking and unlocking as I walked by the car.
Ah. I have a 2002, so I don't know about that. lol How many times do you really walk past your car in the garage with the keys in your pocket without the intent to actually get in the car?
Seems like something that wouldn't happen often, if ever. I wouldn't mind the passive fobs.

The way my house/garage layout is it happens quite a lot. So it’s off now - I had it on my Cadillac but it was parked outside so it wasn’t an issue.
Can anyone tell me why I have to press the unlock button on my remote most of the times 5-8 time to get it to unlock?
And I everytime i put the key in the ignition the seat moves to previous memory previous owner set it at. How do I over ride the previous memory?
I've been starting the car with out the driver door closed so the set memory is not in motion.

You set the memory by putting it where you want and holding the #1 or #2 until it blinks. Whatever fob you use to unlock the car (they are numbered) will pre-set the car to the #1 or #2 setting when you insert the key after it's been unlocked.
It was such a great option that GM did away with for the C5s starting in 2000. I don't use mine, I keep it off.
GM (and other manufacturers) decontent cars all the time. Cost, supplier issues, and many other factors come into play. Not just "hahaha it's a bad option so it got scrapped!"
So when you're at home, you just always keep your car keys on you at all times?
My keys hang next to the door from mud room to garage, maybe 2" from the door frame. Every time that door is opened there is enough vibration or air displacement movement to set it off. Very annoying, so I keep it off.
