So i got a hellcat engine (just because it was for a deal and was going to try to buy a chrysler 300 and slap it on there) But was wondering if i could slap that engine on a c5 lol? Probably a dumb idea and impossible I’ll probably just go with the 300
How deep are your pockets and how much can you do?
(ive already been in contact with another guy who currently has a hellcat 300 he goes by khal_srt on Instagram) And by what he told me he spent on his im able to do it...not sure how much more expensive it is for a c5 let alone if it even fits lol
If you have it, you just measure the dimensions. then compare, that is the first and easiest part of any engine swap , then figure out mating the drivetrain, pcm and gauges

That kind of defeats the purpose of owning a Corvette in the first place, if you have ideas of grandeur putting a Chrysler engine in it. I'm just cringing thinking about it but, it must be like an exorcism to a Corvette purist. You want Hellcat power, plenty of LS engine choices to match or beat it, and far easier on the wallet.
300s are a dime a dozen and cheap. Just get one, drop it in then make the car look stupid stock...sticky tires, grandpa wheels and a real quiet exhaust system. Should draw in some flies.
I like Hemi's and I have one. But, you better be, a true hot rodder,
to take on this project. You ,would have one of a kind, if ,you have the
skill.
Good luck
These days it's not "hot rod" skills, it's electronic skills. The C5 has multiple interconnected electronic devices (PCU, EBCM, body computer, etc.) that all talk need to talk each other over a digital data bus to get anything to happen, let alone have full functionality. Physically hooking things together is simple shade tree mechanics in comparison.

you can use a standalone ecu to run the engine and keep the factory pcm intact to keep the gauges and everything else happy, so I don't see that being a huge deal but it will cost $$$$

Did you get this engine somewhere in norther california, you know around the area where the dodge dealership got broken into? asking for a friend hahaha.

The factory unit is going to complain bitterly about lack of sensor input - and the tach runs off that unit. If it's an auto, there are other issues of course. The hellfire ecu also expects to control a trans. I guess someone in Dodge Land would know how to program that out.
Sounds like a long and expensive project to me. Best use of that motor would be in a restomod or similar, where there are no existing electronics to contend with.
I think it would be a neat project to see, but I have my reservations on how well it would fit. Those new Mopar motors are pretty large......and the LS takes up a bit of room in the engine bay to begin with. Not a lot of extra room for growth in the width of the motor........curious what you'll find out.
