Ok Mr DBob,
I'll definetly put in the file part of memory bank. I've thought that all along since purchase date . I dont mean to rob this thread, but anybody's comments on brand will be greatly taken under considersation. I have looked on line at several tires and views on them. I'm sorted leaning toward BFG Comp G-Force or Indy500. While i"m the subject , should i consider new TPMS' ?

Thanks for everyone's help, I'm use to C2's........this 2003 is a new learning curve for this old gezzeer
Max
ps I do have some left over C2 parts to sell if anyone interested

For those of us who want the security of a run flat tire, the MINIMUM it's going to cost is $950 for 4 tires, plus mounting/balancing and sales tax. You call that "not expensive"?

Agreed - and more for good ones. My Michelin Pilot A/S RF's cost $1,230 for 4 (18's/19's, base C6 sizes) from TireRack in 2012. A solid 10% of what most C5's are worth. And as I do have a family, I opt for runflats...last thing I want is to get stuck on the shoulder of the freeway at night with sleepy truckers wandering all over the place.

To the OP: TPMS sensors have about a 10 year life - plus or minus. If you don't know how old they are, and are getting new tires, it's a good time to pop for new ones. There are two types, depending on year and they are not interchangeable.

BFG Comp G-Force? A very noisy tire - ask me how I know - and I have profound hearing lose - lol.

I was thinking of TPMS sensors, too, but didn't include them in the equation. They're what, about $40-50 each, these days?? That adds another $200 to the tab.

Another thing is the amount of wear left in your tires, at the present time. My C-5, since I retired, gets about 800-1000 miles/year. And unfortunately, this year, due to not being able to go anywhere, most likely a little less. I have the Michelin Pilot Sport RFs on it. I bought them in 2014, and at the time, the front two had a production date of 2013, and the rears were produced in 2012. According to the "age out" disciples, I should be considering replacing them, right now. BUT, the damned things only have about 3500-4500 miles on them.....they look brand new!

Leadfoot4 So what would you do if you picked up a nail and the tire required to be repaired - The tire shop says too old for us to repair?

In THAT case, I indeed have an issue....ASSUMING the independent shop that I deal with, won't fix it.

EDIT....I notice that you skipped over the fact that 2 of the tires I bought, from a well respected CF sponsor, were already 2 years old, when I received them. And yes, I called them about it, when I received the tires, before mounting them, and they said that was the best they had, and offered a 10% discount...

Personally, I would fix it myself. Have done. Many times. It's not hard to do. Besides, Michelin says its tires are good for 10 years - just a regular inspection annually after 5 years.

Mine still look great, plenty of tread left. This is the only year it has had little use since winter, I usually put somewhere around 3k on per year. But the reality is my wife does not like to do many miles in it - she thinks it's noisy and not very comfortable, and compared to our other car, she is right. As to life, 10 years is good.
