For handling source some used C5 Z06 leafs, a good set of shocks, and some good thick sway bars. Will handle better than what most people would ever be able to reach its limits. As far a Nitrous....why? Car makes over 400 now to the tire, also more than most people can ever fully use. I have heard N2O is safe as long as you have the fuel for it. But a common weak area of these engines are the pistons and rod bolts.

Lots of great tuners in our area - Nigel Alexander at Brutal Speed and Tuning in Maiden has done our '99. With his racing schedule and customer work it can take a few weeks to get in, but worth the wait.
I know you mentioned still trying to get a Z06 but you already have 410 rwhp. Add the suspension upgrades mentioned by dskinsler83 and Mike98SilVert and you'll basically have a Z06 - just without the emblem!
