Congrats on your new ride.
Now you need to do some reading on here, then come back with questions.
There are common issues like column lock and skip shift (CAGS) you might want to address but first you need to determine what has been done to your car.
Start with the stickies, the threads labeled "sticky" at the top of the forum. Once you have read through those posts thoroughly, you should have a pretty good idea of what you need to address, if not you will know the right questions to ask.
Good luck and WELCOME!

See if you have an LMC5 for the column lock issue (do a search). If not, order one and either install it or at least have it available in case you get stranded.
Do a search on how to read codes and see if you have any.

Welcome aboard.

1. Center console - Open, pull up to get it fully open.
2. Check out the radiator from under the front of the car for leaves, debris. Pull out what you can and the take off shroud and use air to blow out radiator for better cooling.
3. Buy a set of Rhino ramps and jack pucks (Ebay) for maintenance. With front up on ramps, you can jack up back above the front to do oil changes. Differential fluid is super easy to change.
4. Flushing out the back lights is a nice looking mod. You can buy new longer bolts and some spacers at a hardware store to DIY rather than spending $30-50 on a kit. Much better look.
5. Larger sway bars are cheap. Along with ZO6 shocks, these are worthwhile and relatively cheap upgrades that deliver
6. Find a ZO6 titanium exhaust rather than spending big money on a name brand. A Borla X-Pipe is about $275. You can find the Ti exhaust for under $400. Good exhaust for less that $700.
7. Do an 18,19 wheel set up if you don’t already have one. I think OEM C6 wheels are a bargain compared to quality after markets. $5-600 can get you some quality GM wheels that are made for the car and what it can do.
8. Do your own maintenance if you can. Easy car to work on and a lot of info on how to do many maintenance and common problems.

Some random experiences. Hope they help.

At first this seems Silly.................. BUT...

Back in 2015 or so, 3 days after I purchased my 2003 C5, I got stranded in my own driveway due to this issue. Purchased the LMC5 and (fingers crossed) have not been stranded since.

It is good advice to look into this!!!

I agree with checking out the Sticky threads in both the C5 General and C5 Tech sections. Tons of useful info can be found there.
