Default Mid-engine C5 T70

Dug our the rotors & calipers for wheel spacing along with mounting the Hoosier slicks.

Reinstalled the bodywork to see how wide the tack actually is with rotors installed.

Slicks are 275 & 325’s so the rears required bodywork trimming to fit over them.

I’m fabricating some patterns for the rear flares to match the front shapes.

What do you guy’s think?

Digging transaxle & motor out now for dry-sump pan install & mate so I can get it in the chassis.

Default Thanks

Thanks for all the support, it’s been a busy time for me so it’s hard to concentrate on this like I want to sometimes. This project is for all of you to see what can be done with a bunch of cast-off parts From other people’s projects and a little effort. I work in aviation industry so maybe I have a little more inside track on tooling, but anyone can do this with enough effort. Use your resources around you all the time. I’m not welding the rollcage, I know a few good local places that build roundy-round & drag cars so they can do that for me. I’m more handy with the tin-work after that. I’ll build the radiator duct work & full interior here in front of you, piece by piece. You will see it all. I’m just tinkering & thinking outside the box where I need to. Let me get the motor & transaxle in place & let’s see how high the intake/throttle body stick up....

The secret to torsional stiffness - an essential building block for a well handling car, is multiple transverse structural members that will resist twisting. That chassis in your photo does not seem to do have those components, so will likely flex.

Default Chassis

Agreed

100% agreed. Currently there is nothing. I have to have the bodywork located & mounted along with engine/transaxle to see what kind of structure can be built. Truthfully I’m not sure if I can even get proper roof protection without your helmet hitting tubes...
