Figured today is the perfect day to spend quality time with America's sports car. So, detailed my 2003 Anni and have to say, turned out pretty darn good. Especially for a 17 year old car. Reflections within the garage were pretty crazy. Reflection from the hood. That is the reflection from the convertible top cover (you can see the truck deck behind it). Neighbor's house across the street.
And end result: Love how the anniversary red paint varies so much depending on the lighting angle.
Clay bar, then went over with Meguiars 210 light cut compound... But found there was a slight rainbow effect after that, so went over lightly with Scratch X 2.0 and it looked perfect. Paint was deep, rich and smooth as glass before the waxing. Applied NXT 2.0 and it really turned out nice. The paint is unbelievably slippery.
Purple is good too but we all know Electron Blue was the best color
Electron Blue is pretty awesome to be sure.
BUT... while I'm quite fond of my Anniversary Red C5, I still hold Nassau Blue on '99 C5 as my favorite of all colors on a Vette yet. (I've had a Quasar Blue C4, JetStream Blue C6 and a Laguana Blue C7)
My previous C5: Blue is my favorite color. Nassau Blue was a very 'chill' color and I loved the metallic quality to it. Man, I miss this car. A bit of that metallic shine.
I know Im bringing this thread back from the dead, but its sad when a 17 year old Corvette, has almost no orange peel, and GM has upgraded their paint facility to the tune of $480 million, and still cant get this quality of paint reflection, without the worst orange peel on a factory painted car.
