New Vette Owner - 2001 vert

Like others, I am sure, I have been a bit of a lurker around here before I finally pulled the trigger and completed a lifelong dream of owning a Vette. Got a 2001 base black vert. Paid a good price for it. 50k miles, clean carfax, multiple owner but it rides so nice and checked it out and everything was great. Super excited!
Anyways, already did some research in the center console getting warm on longish drives and an ever so small "rocking" motion in the driver seat when accelerating. Seems to be normal behavior / easier fixes. I was also looking into a cheap way to be able to plug in my iPod and found this: https://www.discountcarstereo.com/aux-gm2.html Anyone have this / impressions?
I already have plans to take it on an over 1200 mile roundtrip in about a month - very much looking forward to that. Hope the center console doesn't blow up!

Just wanted to say thanks to you all for the information on this forum and super excited to join you!
EDIT: Just realized there is a ne members section so I don't mind if this is moved.

These cars LOVE trips. Don't be a garage queen - go drive it and see the country. Best way to do it, I think.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
). It works great. It's also very versatile. You can leave your ipod in the console plugged into a short cable, or use a longer cable and get the iPod away from the heat. What I did is plug a cheap Bluetooth transmitter into the console jack, paired my iPod with it, and now I can play my iPod with no visible cables. The Bluetooth transmitter is cheap, lives in the console and is powered by the lighter socket (using a USB adapter). Here's a pic of the console and the newly installed jack.
The Aux-in kit looks something like this, and sits between the radio and the cable that plugs into the radio.
Since I have a bluetooth adapter plugged into the jack, I can use an iPod touch I got off of Fleabay for $20, or use my iPhone without having to fiddle with wiring.
Note that you have to take the radio out to do the install, so if your CD player doesn't work, this is a good time to replace it. Taking the radio apart, once it's out isn't difficult, and the replacement CD player is another cheap ($30) item.

Smart move joining this forum.....lot's of great owners here willing to share their knowledge and expertise........just keep your sense of humor intact....LOL

Good stuff! I just got the one I ordered in the mail. Took me about 2 minutes to install. I just have the cable laying across the trunk and I have it going behind the passenger seat and along it by the center console. Basically in the same spot as yours but on the outside haha. I like the position you have yours in. I got a USB charger for my center console power cig lighter and between that and if I can get the aux jack in there like you I would have virtually no cables as well either because the ipod can charge there in the console.

Seeing that your user name is Mos Espa, I thought you'd get a chuckle out of this, our family sedan-
My kids named the car "Vader" and so we decided to have some fun with that theme. We have to tell people the 7's on either side represent "1977".
Best of luck with that awesome new convertible!!

I almost named my Vette "Vader" since its triple black and I have added red accents like the red lettering. But it's Fett's Vette because of the song (and I had a Boba Fett keychain I put with the keys):
Here's the red lettering (Also posted this in the "What did you do to your C5 today" thread). The two T's on the front license plate cover came with some residue on it but I have since cleaned those up.

An elite Engineering insulated tunnel plate will cut the heat drastically - here is a link to my write up.

I-Simple makes an inexpensive interface to accept 3.5mm IPod jacks - easy to install. The link you posted requires the 12cd changer wiring. This kit plugs directly to the head unit w/o the 12 cd changer and it uses the CD/Aux button on the radio to switch to this kit from radio. I installed it in my car and it works well. Stay away from anything that broadcasts to an fm station -they always suck.
