I paid $13,850 for my 99 coupe with an automatic and 55K miles last October. Clean CarFax, no evidence of bad things. Came with both targa tops and every available option for a 99 except HUD. I'd pay it.

I’m buying a 1999 FRC 6spd with 37k miles for $13,500 with clean car fax and no mods to the car.

check in the classified section and you see some decent deals and even some that are build for around that price.

But... since you asking I'd offer 10k -10.5k

I think that a C5 is worth whatever someone is willing to pay. If you like the car buy it. If you have to hesitate don’t. I’m in the mindset with “ these will not be rare cars” too many produced. These are to be maintained, driven and enjoyed. I had my car in a car show locally and the guy who owned a C5 convert (2003) parked next to mine kindly complained that his has been a garage queen and has a total of 24k on it and parked next to mine with 113k on it, one could not tell much difference between both vehicles. I smiled and said, your call but they meant to be enjoyed.

I mean, I am glad I bought a garage queen but she definitely will be a peasant by the time I am done with her haha. I completely agree they are meant to be driven. I didn't but one for an investment - but I am glad the previous owners my mine did so I could buy it in 2020 with low miles.

I would say $12K would be a more reasonable price, but if you can get the seller off the $13,750 price, it would be better.

It’s definitely overpriced for the market and I think you can get an 01+ car for the same price/miles if you shop around. My 2004 just got the EBCM problem with 105k miles and I’m just happy it’s fixable.

Real hard to put a price on it unless you have seen it in person, driven it and gone over everything. What looks good online can turn out to be a complete basket case in person. Here is a real life example...

When I decided to start looking for my first vette, I went to look at one in Stafford Va. Here is a link to the car online:
1999 For sale

Looks good in the photos. I test drove it, looked it over real close. It needed an exhaust system (1/2 missing), every panel had signs of clear coat delam,, seats not as good as photos show, power seats non functional, a/c didn't work, roof panel needs replaced, lots of worn out weatherstripping, missing parts on door panels, all tires needed replaced, magnesium wheels curbed and need refinish, crack in hood, major divot in windshield, glove box opened on every bump and other things I can't remember.

I told them I was looking for something that may need some work but this was too much. When I was there they dropped the price from 13K+ all the way down to 8K!! I still didn't bite, wanted something I could drive while I was working on it, not something that would sit for a year while I fixed it.

For the next month they continued to send me emails dropping the price from the list (although never the $8K offered on the lot). I can't believe they are still listing it online for $13575.

I ended up finding a 2003, less miles, way better condition and $2k less.

Mistake to buy a C5 1997- 2000 even if it was 0 miles. No parts or support for the critical electronics that have high failure. Well worth small extra cost for 01-04.

Wow I looked at that same car it was parked under a tree with bird crap from front to rear . Salesman mentioned how fast it was.haha. I looked at two others locally they were just as bad. Found a 98 C5 in Newington, va 140k in good shape for $9,900

My take is about $9-10k for a '98 with nothing wrong with it. Then add about $1k/per year - tops. Personally, I don't think any auto coupe is worth more than about $13k regardless of year, but that's just me. MN6's go for a bit more; convertibles and Z06's for quite a bit more.

EBCM failures seem to mostly happen on the early (mid '98 and on) cars with AH. Previous to that it was a rear mounted device which only provided ABS.

Hard to tell without seeing it but I say this in every one of these posts; if the seller is asking "Y", he'll actually settle for "Z'. In other words, never pay the asking price because 90% of sellers is asking more than what they actually take for the car.
In your case, a $13,750 is not a bad asking price for a 99 C5 with 60K. I'd offer $12K for it but be willing to go up to $12.5K.
As far as some saying all C5s before 01 are worthless, I disagree. I have two 99s and no ABS problems at all yet my 02 does have those problems (damn, I got to fix that one of these days). But to all you naysayers, I can still drive my 02 just fine without Active Handling/ABS. Hasn't blown up yet

Actually, the ‘01-02 ebcm I just bought has been out of production for many years. Snagged one of the last ones new in box to keep for the future. Planning to keep mine for life. Good luck finding another new, they are scarce and prices are the Wild West if you find a new one.

rebuilt only fixes a couple known codes, sometimes you may need a new unit. Then you’re right where the 97 crowd is in another few years.

the 01+ steering sensors have gone up 1/3rd in the last 2 years. I bought two to keep for the future... seat switches for the non-sport seats (Z06) are near unobtanioum, snagged a used one for $100, took over a year to find listed.

Only saying this as an eye opener. Plan ahead if you have an 01+
The ship already sailed on the 97-00
