I am looking for a Picture from the C5 GM OME repair manual that shows the internal connector mechanism for the sun visor, if there is one. I have tried the instructions on how to remove the sun visor and none have worked. So my next more is cutting into the plastic at the connection point and then the internal rubber that is holding it in place to remove it. But I do not want to damage the internal stuff that is within the framing for connection purposes. Thanks for your help.
It is a little tricky. The way I did it, which was quick and easy once I figured it out, was to put a screwdriver in the slot of the plastic piece, then rotate the visor so that the metal piece of visor is against the screw driver. The whole plastic piece turns about a 1/4 turn and comes out.
UPDATE. SUCCESS!!!! After reading all the encouraging remarks, I decided to try the removal again, the 3rd time and it worked. The driver's side for unknown reason would not release. Went to the passenger's visor, it release just as all have opined with no problem. Now I focused on the Driver's visor again. I decided I was not leaving until it was removed. Some colorful encouraging language and it finally released. Time for a beer.

Glad you had success. I feel your pain as I've removed two sets and had trouble getting them both out too
Prior to my removal attempts, I purchased some plugs from Corvette Clips that cover the holes. I plan on trying to rebuild the two visors as others have done. After removing, I really like the look of not having sun visors. They were a pain to play with when lowering the top on my vert. The plugs blend right into the trim. They look great. I just may leave the visors off permanently. Thanks again everyone for your suggestions.

I again have something in common with you. I took mine out of my 98 to get leather covered (they looked great when done) but once they were out, I kept them out (I'm 6'4"). I could see much better without them. I also took them out of my black 99. I have plugs for the 99 but haven't put them in yet.

A few years ago when I redid my sun visors, I had them out for several weeks and really liked the clean look and the more open view. However, I did put them back in once they were refurbished. However, last summer during a multi-day road trip, I got tired of them always being in the way (I have a convertible as well). So I pulled them off and threw them in the trunk and decided I'm going visor-less from now on. I ordered the plugs from Corvette Clips and I got this thing (https://sunblocker.store/) for those rare times when I have to deal with sun glare. The Sun Blocker just parks up top near the rear view mirror, pretty much out of the way, and is available anytime I need to move it into position. All you see on the outside is a quarter-sized silver metal disc on the windshield.
Thanks K9Leader for the info. Looked at the web site and thought for the money, $19.95, it was worth a try. Ordered it. Will report back to the CF on how well it works.

I'm about to pull my visors off based on this thread. They are definitely in the way. I usually leave them flipped forward rather than backward, and it's a little better, but not great.
