Default Alternate Radio

I have been following another thread with a good way to do a touch screen radio with the factory bezel. One of the main drawbacks is the lack of actual "*****". Which lead me to looking. I found this on the rain forest site. Its for a Jeep but the dimensions look like it might work. Just wondering if anyone tried this?

It seems that it might work, although there's a difference of 19mm vertically.

The OEM 1.5 DIN is:
Diagonal: 8.5" (216mm)
Size: 8" x 3" (203mm x 76mm)
Aspect Ratio: 2.66

That looks really nice and modern! If you decide to get it, best of luck on getting it to fit.

I definitely like your thinking. A unit like this would solve the problem of volume *****, as well as needing to alter the resolution. This particular unit also has the advantage of a DVD drive. The downside is it is too wide and too tall. Difficult to tell exactly, as the pictures give the dimensions of the outer edges. There is a small lip around the unit that will help reduce the number some. The width is close, very close; in fact, it might fit. Unfortunately, I fear the height is more of a concern. It looks to be about 1/3 to 1/2" too tall. I measured my unit at 7 3/4 inches wide and about 3.2 inches tall. If someone could get it to fit then it would definitely be a great way to go. I'll admit, I'm a noob with stereo installs. I found a few units like this but they were for jeeps or BMW's and I did not know if I'd be able to connect them successfully in a C5 even if I got it to physically fit. Only way to know for sure is for somebody to get one and try it. So.. I nominate bonesbrakr!

Ehh, you're going to likely run into wiring Concerns, as there would prolly not be a comparable plug Conversion from that to Factory..

Why not research on Crutchfield what will certainly fit and work with your Car

Well, like this one, there are some Head Units on the Market that do not play CD's or DVD's (are Digital Media only).
