Cree LEDs. You can find good ones for $50.00 or less. The clear reflector will add brightness, but will also add additional cost. You will notice a big difference with the LED over stock if you're looking for cheap and simple.

Several forum vendors have some nice CREE bulbs and vendor Sharp Lights Innovations has a new set up that attaches on top of the license plate frame. This set up is a strip of LEDs about as wide as the license plate so it should provide really good back up lighting.

I got mine from Sharp Light innovations. George is great to work with. However, there are lots of options. You can just google "C5 reverse light Cree LED Bulb". They're on Amazon, ebay, and at your local auto parts store. Take your pick.
