That may be the column lock relay. If there is a LMC5 installed on the car there is an item in the instructions to disconnect that relay.
You have a lot of aftermarket wiring in that space from what I see. Can't tell any more than that from this one picture.

Gary, Thanks! Armed with your info I was able to verify that that is exactly what that was for. This is the first time I've been in here, and will have to check out what the other 'aftermarket wiring' is for. I know the stereo was changed out, and it has a curb alert also. Bought the car in 17', and still learning. Thanks again- Bob

Default Column Lock Relay

I'm certainly happy that I ran across this post.

Today I began installing the LMC5 on our 2000 Coupe. Although the installation instructions are detailed, the Steering Column Lock Relay in the pictures doesn't look like the one in our car. It looks like the connector in the above photo. I wonder if the Column Lock was replaced in a recall as the connector has five wires - orange, orange, green, white and purple - and not all 2000 cars had the purple wire.

My problem is that I cannot find the connector release. Which is a real problem because the column is locked and I need to disconnect the relay so I can use the Unlocker.

Googling hasn't returned anything useful. Does anyone have a diagram showing how to disconnect this type of Column Lock Relay?

The column lock unlocker that you have connects at the steering column. It is a smaller 4 pin connector. What is shown in the above post is where the relay that the BCM triggers for the lock is located.

I did my LCM5 last week and that connector caused the kids to learn a few new words..... it's tough especially when you are an above averaged size knuckle dragger!

You should really call Richard at Complianceparts.com. They are the ones who sell the lmc5 module. He is the most helpful and knowledgeable person on this subject. Just google Complianceparts.com and get his number.
