My air filter housing wants to self open. The 'handles' on the straps move to the 'up' position when I'm running down the road. I think it happens when the throttle gets opened up. Anyone else have this issue? What's the desirable cure?
I've not heard of this particular issue before. You could take this as an opportunity to switch to a CAI. Just a thought. You could also duct tape the box shut, but that's kind of ghetto.
Mine did that when I first got the car years ago. I ended up putting the loop side of self adhesive Velcro on the back side of the straps to give them more tension. They have not popped open since.

Lol I can't stop laughing because I also use the ghetto term. My straps kept popping also so I just did the zip tie mod.

I purchased at Harbor Freight some time ago, a package of 18" zip ties for a couple of bucks, might want to give it a try.

This is definitely better than duct tape.
CAI is Cold Air Intake. This would be an upgrade over the stock air box and filter. It allows more O2/denser air to get to your engine. The result is improved fuel economy and a few extra horsepower.
