Does anyone have access to their car and can measure the dimensions (width x length) of the inside of the transparent targa top at its widest points? My car isn't here, but I'm looking at buying some static cling privacy film to cover my top entirely from the inside, because it's much more forgiving to work with than vinyl wrap from the outside..
The Florida sun is brutal, and the press-in headliner I bought is a pile of crap (don't buy these - fitment is poor) and it takes away headroom, too.
Thanks in advance! I tried to search but had no luck.
I just bought a static-cling sun shield from ZIP Corvettes for my C5 transparent top. It's die-cut to the underside of the top so it fits well. Very simple to install and remove. ZIP has two versions; one is perforated and the other is solid. I chose the perforated version as I had used similar styles for my '87 and '93 and the shield still allows sunlight to come thru.. I also have the solid roof for my C5 and I sometimes install that when the weather get real hot (100 degrees or so). Because it's a film, there is no headroom lost when its installed.
The price for the ZIP sunshade is $39. With shipping and sales tax, it came to $53.15. The perforated version p/n is: X-1662.PF
I had one of those on my old roof. They are great! I had a non-perforated version.
I am going to go with some 100% blackout film though. I don't really care about the transparent roof.... I'll just remove it entirely if I want the open air experience.
Another option is to use windshield sunshade material cut to fit the inner perimeter of the trim, held in place, foil side toward the sun, with double sided tape. The tint keeps the foil from being visible, and the foil cuts interior temperature by 20° or more on a sunny Orlando afternoon (before the rain...).
