Hey guys just upgraded from a 75 all the way to an 01. Vehicle is still completely stock. Me and wife both agree it needs and exhaust. Can’t even hear the thing running at idle.
Now I know exhaust is all preference. But what I want is that nice deep tone these cars are capable of but I don’t want it to be so loud I can’t carry out a conversation. I wouldn’t mind it getting loud when I punch it but mostly I’m looking for tone. Anyone have any videos of what they with their vehicle or recommendations let me know!
I think the Z06 is pretty quiet and about as loud as a V8 pickup on WOT, not very throaty
I have longtubes and a Corsa Tigershark which I think is great, some sound at idle and on cruise, great WOT and no drone.

I recommend the Borla S-Type II. There is no drone at any rpm. Also, the S-Type II, unlike the S-Type I, has a deep but not too loud burble at idle, and, if you mash the gas peddle, it is loud enough without being extreme. As for the ZO6 exhaust, it's not much louder than stock at idle, and even at higher speeds it sounds choked and too wimpy. I know, because I replaced the ZO6 exhaust with the Borla S-type II, and I'm glad I did.

Now if you want to have your cake and eat it too
then add cutouts and do a muffler bypass
I used 3" Pep Boys cutouts which made the fitting easy.
Adds 10 db to the volume and you can turn it off

Check out a magna flow axle back system , I am happy with mine, and in the ads, Mario Andretti says it sounds just right. (slight joke) magniflow is a major player in the industry, so anyone in the market should probably check them out.
I prefer a quiet car, but my sled came with one, and I can live with it for the slight performance gain, it's not boy racer loud, civilized like as street part should be, although my Japanese neighbor lady says I have a race car, and she has only seen the car when I use my driveway.
My car is all street legal, having been set up as the shop entry for a restrictive Xcross class, before it got bought out of the shop. I would assume pro guys had valid reasons to select one part over another , but it could have been they had a trade price, a sponsorship, or another reason not performance or quality related. Quality is very high, the steel is as new, on an old part that doesn't get any care beyond a coin operated car wash.
Thanks for all the responses still looking into what i like best. I have another question related to the exhaust. While looking at Magnaflow i noticed they have 2 kits. One has the metal bracket in-between the tips the other doesn't. There is a $300 difference in the systems. Is that bracket there for stability purpose. If so i will spend the extra money to have it be correct

Bought my 2000 Convertible two years ago and thought it was completely stock. Really, really loved the exhaust note and discovered it was Corsa Indy Pace Car Cat Back system. Its just a bit louder than stock with zero drone at highway speeds. You can absolutely carry on a normal conversation as it seems stock until you push on the pedal a bit. And then, it just accentuates the engine a bit.
We did a double date Sat night with my wife and my buddy and his wife (he has a '95 Prosche 911 convertible), driving to a ice cream place in Jonesville, MI. We were the last ones to leave at 9pm, enjoying ourselves outside when a Viper came through the parking lot with a terrible sounding, (obnoxiously loud system). Made me appreciate the Corsa.
I ride BMW motorcycles so I'm all about quiet, but this seems to be the perfect setup.
You might want to look at doing the bypass mod on your stock exhaust. This will likely give you the sound you want, but it will be MUCH cheaper. This can be done at almost any muffler shop for $250 or less. If you are able to weld, you can do it yourself for almost nothing. I would definitely try this first before spending a ton on an aftermarket system.

Just did the muffler bypass mod on my 2003 Vert, 6 speed, with 10300 miles.
I bought s set of mufflers and pipes that had been on a 2003 and removed with 300 miles on them.
Took off original mufflers and pipes and put in storage. Purchased another set today to put on my
2004 vert, 6 speed. I will start the clean up process tomorrow on the new mufflers, these had about 30 k miles on them..
