Hey everyone very new to modding cars and all that, but I just bought a 2004 z06 and I plan to throw some headers on it. But when I get the longtubes and an x pipe do I need any other stuff to go with?
I installed Borla headers and Borla x-pipe last weekend.
I had to purchase 2ea 2.75” diameter lap clamps to fit the slip fit Borla and mine were used so if you buy new you should get them with it. I bought 24” oxygen sensor extensions because my front sensors are now way farther back. Bought new plug wires because my wires broke when I removed them. Bought protective socks to keep the plug wires off the headers, had to remove the drivers side valve cover to get the header in so you might need valve cover gaskets. Bought clamps to hold the oxygen sensor wire extensions off the headers. I removed the AIR pump and plumbing and built covers to block off the ports on the headers. Bought ARP stainless header bolts and Percys header gaskets. Had to unbolt the starter to get the pass side in.

sweet ill start getting the hardware and extensions then to go with all that thanks for the insight!
I would keep the take off parts, because they will be needed to return the car to street legal if you sell it, assuming the car stays in California. They often get thrown away, and posters say it gets costly in both money and time to track the parts down, if you can find them, because of lack of demand, and the age of the car.
as you know, nothing in California gets registered without a smog test, because of the poor air quality, worst in the nation, which is saying a lot. without those parts, it is a race car, a very different market,
I called all over the place and couldn’t find it in stock except a couple places on EBay which is where I got it. Took a week to arrive. There’s a few places that showed in stock and didn’t have it either.

No drone at all 👍
Thanks, I also looked everywhere and came to the same conclusion as you. I decided to wait on them in order to save a little more money. I ordered mine from Complete Street Performance, a forum vendor. Afterwards I spoke with Borla and they advised their next batch will ship around the 18th of this month. Like Josh said, yours sound great, particularly with a stock engine. I can't wait to hear them on my car with all of my engine mods! I currently have B&B bullets and love the sound, but there is some drone at certain rpm's. Hoping these will be the best of both worlds. I've tried just about every catback out there looking for that perfect combination of sound/tone without drone.

I had my headers ceramic coated, used heat socks to protect the spark plug wires and velcro heat protection for the starter wires and the brake lines along with some reflective heat tape for electrical connectors. Summit Racing sells their own heat protection for the spark plug and starter wires and lines which offers the best protection and at a great price. I also recommend installing a heat shield for the starter. I went with Kooks longtube headers and high flow Green cats, mid and X pipe. And Kooks are the easiest to install.
I've been looking for a video on here and YouTube and I can't find any does anyone have a video of longtubes going into the stock ti?
Looking to see how itll sound
