How do I know if my corvette has F55 shock absorbers
Good afternoon,
I was thinking of changing the shock absorbers in my 2003 50th Anniversary Corvette, however the service manual states that there are two types. One with F55 shocks and one without. The F55 procedure seems more difficult to install. How do I know if the shocks in my car are with F55? I took the wheel out of the front tire and gave the car a quick perusal and I noticed there is an electrical connector attached to the shock absorber. Does that mean the car has F55 shock absorbers? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

F55 shocks
The F55 shocks run about $4,000 a set. Are they giving you trouble?

I believe all anniversary editions came with Magnetic ride control. This means that you DO have the F55 shocks. These are very good shocks. I would not suggest changing them unless you are having a problem. If they are giving you trouble, they're about $350.00 a piece. Considering that you have MRC, I wouldn't switch to an aftermarket shock unless you track your call a lot, and want coil overs instead.

Not really but my driveway is a little steep so when I get off the driveway I feel the car really bottoming out. I thought perhaps it was shock issue. Didn't realize it was so expensive.

Sounds like a "ride height" issue. That's controlled by the adjustment on the springs.

Melting Slicks
Or you could just move house - that did it for me...
