So I upgraded my base seats in my coupe with C6 GS seats last year. While they are WAY better than the stock seats, they sit up a little higher than I like. I think I'm going to go with something a little sportier. The cost of the C7 seats seem to be comparable to the corbeau A4 so I'm back and forth between those. I do spend a bit of seat time in this car as it's not a garage queen.
So I guess I'm looking for opinions from people that have run these seats i.e. regrets, positive vs negative experiences, would you do it differently?
Sit in the A4s. I HATED mine, HATED them after about six months. They looked great but made me dislike driving the car. I was borderline too big for them, but I could never get comfortable in them. I knew the second I sat in them they weren’t right, but I still tried to make them work rather than eat the $200 return fee. I stupidly sold my stock seats to boot thinking I’d break them in. I nearly sold the car because of them.
YMMV, but whatever you do, make sure you fit correctly.

Yeah I need to find someone with a set to sit in, that's a good idea. I heavily disliked my stock seats, even though I still have them. I have kept a lot of my stock stuff.
It should be pretty easy to test out the C7 seats...All you have to do is sit in a C7. I've never sat in the A4's so I can't speak to them, I have sat in a C7, and the seats are great. IMHO the C7 seats look better anyway.

I initially liked the idea of the c6 seats because they look like a stock seat, but have a hard time with how high they sit. I really liked how low the c5 seats sat. Im honestly a bit concerned that the C7 seats will sit up like that as well.
Anyone with a C5 with C6 seats that stepped up to C7 seats than can comment on that? I know I may be reaching here but it's worth a shot.
There are a couple of threads on the C5/C6/C7 seats. With the C7 seat you sit down into the seat. The C5 and C6 seats you are on top of them.
Find a C7 to sit in and you will see.
As to sitting lower in the C5 seat vs the C6, the C6 seat probably has new foam in it and the C5 seat the foam is dead.
I put A4s in my car shortly after I got it. The stock seats are crap. So anyway, I've driven my car 1000 miles in a weekend. I've daily driven it for months when my other car was out of commission. For me the A4s are very comfortable. I like them. But they are not OEM quality. I've never sat in the C7 seats. But if you like them, i would get them over the A4s. Unless you are tracking the car. I saw a c7z at thunderhill one weekend. Those comp seats look super cool. Never sat in them either. But that is not what you asked about.
I have A4's. I track with them. drive on the street. I had them cut
down a couple of inch's because I am tall. Wrapped them in leather
and put heat to them. A fine racing seat.
Good luck
I have the Corbeau Evo's in my C5Z. They look great and are comfortable for short distance driving such as around town. For long distance driving, no way as my butt would be numb since there isn't much cushion and thigh support is lacking. I have a C7 as well and I gotta say the seats hands down are perfect. They keep you snug and are comfortable for short and long distance driving. While I do like my Evos, if I had to do it all over again I would go C7 seats.
I have C6 seats in my C5 and C7 seats in my C6. Both of these conversions take a bit of work to accomplish and if you have never tried a project like this definitely do your homework before purchasing anything.
The C6 seats do sit up higher than the C5 seats probably by 1/2 to 3/4". You will need to grind off the seat belt anchor on the outside of each seat to get them to fit without rubbing on the C5 seat belt trim and also remove the C6 pretentioners. I also had Dan from VetteWorks provide me with the conversion wiring harnesses, but still had to re-pin some wiring on the drivers seat because the forward and back controls were reversed. Some have not had this problem, but mine were out of a 2013 model. Further, before the C6 seats were installed I also had the center seat back foam trimmed to only 1" yielding deeper side bolsters and now the seats keep you fully anchored during aggressive driving. To me this is the best solution for a C5 while keeping full power controls if you can afford losing some headroom.
Fitting the C7 seats into my C6 was a very involved process due to the airbags, pretentioners and seat presence monitor in the passenger seat. The C7 seats are crafted completely different than the C5 and C6 seats and are definitely an upgrade over both. However, they are also wider and I doubt the C7 seats will fit in a C5 without converting to C6 seat belts and then removing the C5 seat belts and associated trim. I know others have done this conversion without taking these additional steps, but it appears the seat was rubbing on the sill trim nor could they be fully rolled back. To me if you are going to modify your car do it the right way and make everything fit and work like the factory installed it.
In short, any of these conversions are possible, but they don't just drop in either. I really like my C6 seats in my C5 and it was a relatively easy conversion. My recommendation though is to get the "sport" versions that have the removable center seat backs, so they can be altered if you want deeper side bolsters.
I have really enjoyed the results of c7 seats in my C5.
The c7 seats can be lowered/raised with the power button which makes finding the perfect spot easy.
They are much more firm than the old seats were and hug you tight. I kept the c7 belt receivers and didn't trim anything to make them fit for me.
I bought them without ever sitting in a c7 ad have zero regrets. However if you're still weighing your options, try finding a c7 in a used car dealership near you and try them out.

Those look great in there. Do they sit higher than the C5 seats did?

Side airbags can be removed. You do have to dismantle the seat back to do it. It is fairly easy to do.
Seat position for all the way back is about the same and the height of the cushion is a bit lower by like a half inch.

If you like the looks of the Corbeau seats, perhaps another option are the C7 Competition Seats. I have those in my C7Z and really like the look and they fit me like a glove when driving. I have yet to see anyone install the C7 Competition Seats into a C5 so I'm not sure on the fit and/or compatibility as compared to the GT seats.

Those are the exact seats I really want, for my car. Probably never find a pair at a price I can afford, though.
Well first of all c7 seats are slightly heavier than the aftermarket seats.
c7 competition seats Are absolutely great seats if you like firm planted racing seat.
c7 seats also have cooling function that works amazingly well,
heated option
power option.
I would 100% take c7 competition seats over aftermarket seats.
