The Magnetic ride control (F55 shocks) is MUCH better than the selective ride (F45 shocks). The selective ride control isn't really worth it. I think that the MRC is worth it. To clarify some earlier posts. ALL anniversary edition cars have MRC, but not all 2003 model year cars have MRC (as I think you have discovered). You may want to consider a 2004 special edition. The Le Mans blue is pretty spectacular, and I think you'll be able to find one with MRC a lot easier. Not only that, but they will hold their value better(if you care at all about that).
I disagree. But it's all subjective. My 2000 Vert has the F45, and I really like it. 116,000 miles, still good suspension control, no leaks, still very noticeable differences between the 3 settings. I live in Michigan, and our roads are near the top of the list for worst roads in the U.S.. I've been told by guys at Vette shows, who own both C5 and C6 cars, that their C5 rides softer in the soft setting than their C6. I dont personally know, as I've never ridden in a C6 with F55. But I can't tell you if they had the F45 or F55 in their C5s. I know I drove mine round trip from Michigan to California, and it rode great. If you use the 3rd setting on Michigan roads, you'll soon have neck and dental issues. I'm sure there are better systems out now for specific purposes, because the F45 was probably designed 25 years ago. But for a really nice riding Corvette, it's still hard to beat a C5 in the tour position, F45 OR F55. My car also handles well enough on "Performance" that on mountain roads like the Tail of The Dragon, the g-force is sufficient enough to have my wife loudly saying SLOW DOWN!!!
Agree with G.... 45...For me I can feel the sensitivity and difference between settings on some "bumpy surfaces" but not always... The system works for those folks that can disseminate the sensitive ride feedback from the different shock settings... I trust the system is working properly, evan tho I can not always "feel" it.
