I have been running Corbeau Evolution X in several vehicles over the last 6 years, like them a lot, very solid fixed back seat. Fits me very well, 6 ft 3 in 220 lb, supportive but still some room to move around.
Well he definitely mentioned swapping sides in the video. I guess the adjuster is what interferes? Is it still reasonably accessible once you do that? I almost never touch seat adjustment or have passengers, so I guess it's not terribly important.
The problem is the C5 seatbelt design with the coil of belt being stored at the bottom. If you swap the belts, that is no longer the case, so you have the room.
Not sure how accessible it would be. I did it with my stock seat for a brief period of time (my car had a fiberglass bucket racing seat in it when I bought it, so I put the passenger seat on the driver's side temporarily) and it wasn't exactly easy to get to the adjustments, but I do have large hands.
You get what you pay for. These are no exception. Definitely a "Made in China" copy of the older Braum Elite. I wouldn't by them for my car...but that's me.

If you wouldn't mind, my wife and I would like to check out your Corbeaus. You're not that far away.
Do these have a brand or anything? I think I've talked my wife and parents into splitting this for my Christmas, but I'd like to do a little comparison shopping to see if I can find them cheaper.

The brand would be "Chinese" and if you find anything cheaper than $318 a set you'll be sitting on lawn chairs

Well I was hoping to find the same ones from a different source like eBay. EBay has some very similar looking ones for a bit cheaper, but I'm not positive they're a match. Looks like those seat brackets are sold out everywhere. Hope they come back in stock since the other options seem to be several times more expensive.
Looks like they have tan ones as well. I'm very very interested in these. However, I'm concerned about the color match with my light oak interior. If the color matches well, I'd want to try these for sure. Has anyone tried the tan ones in an oak interior before? If so, pic would be greatly appreciated.

There are a ton of Chinese "racing seats" like this on eBay for less. At least there were about a year ago. I bought a pair, with mounting brackets included, from eBay for $200 total with the intention to put them in the C5. Before I could install them, I came across a local deal on a pair of excellent condition C6 seats. I sold the eBay seats for what I paid for them to a guy that installed them in a dune buggy and am much happier in the long run with the C6 seats for not much more.
I can see the argument for a "higher quality" seat being desired, but I don't doubt these "Chinese"/unbranded/rebranded/multi-branded seats are of any less quality than the other knock-off brands that have slowly gained popularity. There was a time not too long ago when people swore they would never put a Braum seat in their car, but now it's considered one of the "quality" brands lol.

That's because Braum is not a Chinese knock off seat.

I wasn't really trying to split hairs here, nor was I knocking Braum, but are you saying their seats aren't made in China? I don't have any first hand knowledge, but their site says the seats are designed and assembled in the US...usually when companies aren't so quick to say where the product is actually made...it's China lol.

Not made in China at all. They're made in Kuantan Malaysia by Twos Seating Sdn Bhd (a.k.a. SSCUS) and SHIPPED through China to the Port of LA for US distribution. They manufacture OEM and racing seats for all forms of racing and OEM vehicles of the auto industry, even emergency vehicles.

Very cool. Do you work for Braum? That's some very specific info lol
I am not against saving some coins when possible, yet I think this discussion is missing a salient, although minor compared to safety, point, that the seat is a major touch point, one of the main surfaces that will effect your driving impressions,.
If you get all happy when you jump in thinking I saved hundreds of dollars every time you touch the seat, so much the better. If you jump in and think these feel like second string cheap seats, you might have miscalculated the buying decision.

The biggest failure point of aftermarket seats, is in rear end collision where the locking mechanism fails. This is impossible in the Corvette, as the rear bulkhead is right behind the seat. Also, if anyone has also ever flopped the stock seat around, the reclining/locking mechanism is no prize whatsoever. I wouldn't run a cheap or even non-fixed back aftermarket seat in a car with a back seat, or where the seat isn't fastened to the cage (or an FIA certified reclinable), but in Corvette this isn't a concern. The C5 has the seat encapsulated as is; it's not going anywhere.
You couldn't be more correct. I lost a good friend and coworker in an accident similar to the scenario you decribe. It's been almost 30 years now, but "Larry" was driving about 55mph (speed limit at the time) on a by-pass route on the freeway, and a car doing well over 80mph hit him from behind with enough force that the back of the seat broke away. He flew out of the open car window, and was struck by a 2nd car, as he lay dying on the pavement, killing him instantly. Seat belts do no good when you're thrown backwards. Freak accident, but they do happen......
