Hi, I just installed a B&M short throw shifter in my 1999 c5 and I do not want to use the stock shift ****. I have been looking around as there are plenty of them but I thought I would ask here to get some suggestions?? Have made up my mind If I want a ball or straight handle! Let me know what you think! Also I am getting a two tone shifter boot that doesnt come with the bottom ring and I would like to keep the old one intact for later use if needed! Any idea where to get one or does anyone have one laying around collecting dust...lol ? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Bill
What makes a poor quality shift ****? It's an aluminum ball lol. Well in my case it is. I just don't see how you could make it any better.
Not all ***** are aluminum. The phenolic ***** from speed dawg are night and day better than the twistedshifterz *****. And the logos are embedded inside the ***** from speed dawg as opposed to engraved on the surface
I hate gaudy shift ***** with wacky logos and colors. I much prefer simple and functional. I also hate materials that get extremely hot or cold. Therefore, I prefer Delrin. My previous C5Z had a B&M Ripper shifter with a "C5R" style Delrin ****. My current C5Z has an MGW shifter that I added a Raceseng **** to. It is a 16oz. weighted stainless steel core with a Delrin outer sleeve.

Twisted Shifterz, 1 7/8" ivory color, no engraving. I found the 2.25 Hurst much too large, and 2" still a bit larger than I really wanted. Agree with others the factory **** is good, but my touch will erode the leather much too soon. The Twisted Shifterz ball is hollow, of course, with a brass insert. Wall thickness appears to be right around .2" -- probably where the feeling of a quality difference comes from. The Hurst **** appears to be on the order of .4" wall thickness.
