Default New battery fixed everything!

So I noticed recently that my car took ever so slightly longer to start. I figured it was because I hadn't driven it in a week due to the bad weather. However, this last Friday morning, I got the TPMS replaced on my rear wheels. However, the shop was not able to get the car to re-learn the new sensors. Later that same day, I tried to unlock the car with the key fob. The marker lights came on (so the car clearly got the signal), but the car didn't actually unlock. It took 5 or 6 tries to get the car to unlock. This happened again later in the day. I figured the first step for dealing with C5 electrical gremlins is to replace the battery. I swapped in the new battery, and sure enough the locks work just fine, and I was able to reset the TPMS with no issues at all. Just figured I share in case any of you run into a similar issue.

So what make battery did you purchase? Girlfriend has a C7 (I own C5) and I want to replace her original that is in the trunk. Getting "hinky" starting like yours was. So AC/Delco or ? is the preferred brand? Dealer or easy enough to do myself maybe? Thanks Dave

C5's are very sensitive to voltage issues as you have discovered. Glad the battery purchase solved your issues. Take care!

GM,
I had similar issues , like traction control , slow starts , a few other codes and a dead battery after a week of not driving.
I purchased a Optima Red Top and my issues went away .

A weak or bad battery can cause all sorts of problems. Glad that is all it was.

"New battery fixed everything "...... Sounds "fishy" but so true when one owns a C5... personal experience!

I had issues with traction control also. Turns out, back in the 2000's my stock GM battery died. It leaked fluid everywhere, really pissed me off. It corroded the ground wire connected to the frame. That caused TCS warnings. Soon as I cleaned all that up, car was golden. It took years to locate even being so obvious.

I also went with an Optima RED. Thing lasted flippin 17 years. Was insane. Recently replaced with an Oddessy. No complaints with the Optima of course but the Oddessy clearly has superior construction with brass terminals. No clue on the lifetime of the Oddessy yet, it's only been a year-ish. I might have been just as well off with another Optima considering the insane lifetime of the last one.
