Default Ceramic waxes/polishes.....

Has anyone tried these yet? I see them on TV and they're being touted as lasting for up to 2-3 years. Are they longer lasting and/or better than wax? Anyone??

There's pros and cons
good intro video

After a lot of research, I decided to stick to good old wax. Correct application of ceramic is hugely time consuming and the products are expensive. They 'can' last a long time but then again a good wax can last a long time too. The ceramic is not a cure-all.

I recently used Griots 3 in one Ceramic Wax which is a spray and wipe, polish product that require two coats, applied 24 hours apart. It works very well, IMO. I did my ‘04 Vert and ‘11 Z07 and wife’s Lincoln. There was enough to do all three cars. I do not drive the vettes in inclement weather but the depth and gloss of the shine is fantastic. My wife’s Lincoln is driven in all weather and the Griots is extremely hydrophobic and also resist’s dirt adhesion. For the cost and level of effort it is an excellent value.

There's an entire section on the forum for car care that covers this extensively. IMHO ceramic coatings are a bit better than wax. However, they are not the miracle that you see in the adds. They don't make it so that you no longer need to wash the car. They don't last for years (although they DO last longer than most waxes). I personally like technician's choice.

I did Adam's Polishes Ceramic Coating this past winter (not the spray on type, but the small bottle, hand applied). It has been fantastic all summer. Bug guts wash right off with minimal effort. Still beads water like crazy. Would highly recommend.

I use two different spray on versions on different vehicles and I'm really pleased with both.

I too used Griots 3 in one ceramic wax & polish. I first washed the car, then clay bar the car. Then washed again with a little Dawn dishwashing detergent to strip off any wax. Then applied four coats of Griots over two days. It's just like using a quick detailer. Very good product. I'm very pleased.
A couple weeks later trees near my driveway dropped sap on the Vette. I thought I would have to clay bar the sap off. But just hosing the car off washed the sap off. Amazing 😀

Rule of thumb: If you see it on TV, and it is from a company you have never heard of, PASS on it.

As mentioned, visit the Car Care section, where many of us pro and amateur detailers discuss topics exactly like this one.
