Default Wheel and tire question?

Tires are starting to be a problem for z06 tire sizes. I was thinking of getting a 19x10, 18x9 combo. I can’t find that combo. I found a 19x10, 18x9.5. And a 19x11, 18x9.5 combo.

19x10, 18x9.5 is a little cheaper. Would a 285 35 19, 255 40 18 work with this combo for c6z reproduction wheels and does anyone know if c6z reproduction wheels clear c6z brakes on a c5. Wheels are for c5 fitment.

thanks

The 18x9.5 front and 19x10 combo will be fine, as long as those wheels are a C5 fitment. A 255/40/18 and 285/35/19 will work ok, too. 18x9.5 C6Z repro front wheels in a C5 fitment may or may not clear C6Z/GS calipers. My guess is no.

If it were my car, I would spend a little more and get the 18x9.5 front and 19x11 combo. You can run either a 265/35/18 or 275/35/18 front tire and up to a 305/30/19 rear.

This. You can easily use 305-30/19s, which look better, IMO.

I just put 255/45/18 on front and 285/35/19 on the back.

And how's that working out?

I was thinking of the MRR wheels 19x11 18x9.5. They are about 1500 dollars.
c6z replicas are a lot cheaper, I’ve seen them for 720 on eBay for c5 fitment, 285 35 19 and 255 40 18 tires are available.

only about 10 tire choices for the MRR wheels, but I think MRR claims there wheels clear c6z brakes for a future upgrade.

should I go with MRR wheels, 19x11 18x9.5? Come on stimulus package!!!

You can fit up to a 305 on a 10" or 11" width wheel so that discussion is basically a wash. Even more so with a 18x9.5 front wheel as anything from a 245 to a 285 tire will fit.
FWIW, $1500 for the MRR's is pretty reasonable, especially if you want to fit C6 Z06/Grand Sport brakes.

I can't comment on the 19" wheel/tire combo, but quite a few Forum members have run 315/30/18s in the rear. Probably depends on the brand of tire. I've been running 18x10.5 thin spoke repops from Bob@House of Wheels with 315/30/18 Michelin Pilot Sport 2s since 2005. I have never rubbed anything. I've got about 1/2" of clearance between the tires inner sidewall and the frame. It is tight, but they work. The outer edge of the tire is about parallel with the fender lip. In the very few times I've been caught in the rain, it has never thrown dirt anywhere on the outside of the car. Some brands of tires may have a larger section width than the PS2s, which certainly could be a problem. These tires are NOT CHEAP-They ended up costing over a Grand 15 years ago to purchase, mount, and balance. Hope this helps.

The MRRs are also going to probably be much lighter than the C6Z replicas. Those are HEAVY bastards. I have a set of regular C6 reps that were on my car and I swapped them out for a set of wagon wheels and was shocked at the weight difference between the two.

I’ve done some more research on the MRR flow forged wheels and the 19x11 18x9.5 do not clear c6z brake kit. I’m still looking at options.
