I know that this issue has been discussed extensively on this forum and all across the internet. I am just trying to gain some more insight on my specific issue so please be patient with me. Please don't write me off and tell me to just Google the answer. I know there are threads everywhere about it however I'm just trying to gain a fresh perspective from someone because I've been reading about it for days.
I have a 2001 c5 Corvette with the following HVAC error codes: b0361, b0363 and b0441. From what I read these are pertaining to the driver's side blend door actuators. This lines up with my current problem which is the heat is stuck on and the temperature does not change even though the compressor is on and the system is fully charged. However my driver's side actuator is doing the same thing. It will not change temperatures and the blend door actuator does not move but it isn't stuck on full heat but partial. It appears that both actuators do not move. I have reset the codes reset the HVAC system pulled the fuses pull the negative terminal and unhooked the head unit. The actuators still don't move.
My question is this: does it sound like both actuators have coincidentally gone out in the same position? if the passenger side actuator is bad why am I not receiving codes about it?
There are others with more intimate knowledge of the codes and resets, but on my '99 both weren't working. I replaced them, did a battery disconnect (which is part of the replacement tasking) and now the driver's side works to a T. I honestly don't know if the passenger side works or not -- better half got tired of the number of times my C3 stranded us back in the day, and has to be tricked to get her into the car. Some of the google results you note describe doing gear resets and re-centering -- but as I recall they required removal of the actuator, so I just went with new. Prices -- and quality -- are all over the place. I tend to go Delco when I can. So far, the parts have always fit and functioned.
I’m surprised how simple this was to do once I realized you have to clear the codes so the new actuators move to line up to the screw holes. I’m far from being a mechanic but if you take your time, you can do it too.
While I had dash out, I put in LEDs into the DIC and they look amazing.
I did but that part number from Rock auto. Took the opportunity to replace 4 way emergency flasher from auto zone.
