After 7 C4s I finally moved up to a 2003 Spiral Gray coupe. Gray interior and every option you could get , including magnesium wheels. According to the Black book. There where over 7,000 cars from 1999 to 2004 produced with them. According to the black book they were not available on Z06s. Why..?. Love the C5, world of difference from the C4s.
The Magnesium Sport wheels are light and I love the look of mine with my Magnetic Red '99 convertibe but the paint chips off easily - something about the magnesium outgassing and weakening the paints bond. To preserve them, I have all seasons on them for November to May driving. I have a set of C5 Z06 wheels with summer tires for April to October. Entertaining the idea of having the Z06 wheels powdercoated in the same Bronze Mist color as the Mag Sports.
I am strangely drawn to N73 wheels I suppose because of the factory color. The wheel style doesn’t really appeal to me as much as CCW’s and Z06 wheels both of which I have, but if I could find a pristine set, I’d be all over them.
