I have a stock 1999 C5 corvette Base/auto planning on running:
speed engineering long tube headers
already have a borla exhaust
vararam cold air intake
Yank pro series stall converter, stall speed 3400
92mm Holley hi ram intake manifold
cam
nitrous(Looking to spray 100-150 shot)
I am unsure what cam to run and would like to hear some suggestions or opinions on the build. I’m slowing ordering parts and will install what I can on my own before dropping everything else off to a shop. It’s not my daily driver so looking for a street/track racing build, goal is 500+hp after nitrous.
I'd look into building the transmission if you plan on stickier tires, stock A4 will be sweatin at 500 wheel especially if it's higher mileage and/or has been poorly maintained. The Holley is probably overkill on stock unported heads, a LS6 intake would hit your power goals easy. I ran BTR Stage 3 Cam, ARH 1-7/8 LTs and halltech CAI on my otherwise stock 03Z and was at 440 whp. For a budget build I'd pick up a set of 243 heads, LS6 intake and hit up a good shop to determine what cam will meet your goals (not familiar with what works well with auto). Maybe look into swapping in a 3.42 rear to wake it up some.
JMHO but that Hi-Ram intake is probably a bad choice, for your combo. It makes its best power up high and would really hurt the bottom & midrange torque.
