I purchased a set of used C5 seats. I only really needed the driver's side. Once delivered, I put the "new" seat in place and went to hook up the harness. I have the memory seat option and have 2 plug ins, a black one and a blue one. The replacement seat only had the black one. I tried it anywasy and the seat would go forward but not backward. Plus my telescoping steering column seems to be tied in as well. There was a mention of it being tried on a Z06 and it worked fine. I suppose it is possible to change the harnesses over but I didn't want to break stuff trying to expand my learning curve. Are there different harnesses for these sport seats?
The blue plug is for the telescopic column. Your best bet is to move the seat harness and control module from you old seat to the new one. You can get to all of this with out dismantling the seat other than removing the control switch assembly on the side.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
There are (3) distinct harnesses I know of, with one of them having (4) iterations across the years
Base Seat - no memory, no lumbar, one plug at the car.
Z06 Seat - memory, no lumbar, two plugs at the car.
Sport Seat
Lumbar, no memory, one plug in the car, 97-98 style lumbar
Lumbar, memory, two plugs in the car, 97-98 style lumbar
Lumbar, no memory, one plug in the car 99-04 style lumbar
Lumbar, memory, two plugs in the car, 99-04 style lumbar.
The reason I know this is because I took (5) seats total including a pair of 1997 Sport seats without memory, a pair of 2003 Sport seats with memory and a Z06 seat and built a pair of Sport seats with memory.
As stated, you want to match the harness and seat brain to the car, not to the seat, as it will not work. That being said, a little known fact is the ease of adding lumbar to a Z06 seat by simply obtaining a Sport Seat / lumbar wiring harness and the associated lumbar setup.
