I did the "9005 Conversion" with Silverstars and love the change.
Simple procedure to shave off a lug in the connector section of the bulb that allows for a 9005 bulb to be used in the low-beam 9006 socket. A five-minute process and amazingly better lighting.
My long term experoence with both HIR's and Silverstars in the same vehicle was the exact opposite. "Proper" HIR's (Phillips for example) were much more effective.
Please re-read my post. I agree on using HIRs. Have them in my Hi beams, and they're great. Only reason they aren't on my low beams is they both still work! When one of my Hi beams burned out, I went HIRs....
I just got the LED kit from Vette-Lights and I'm perfectly happy with it. Absolutely worth the $100 and a huge difference over the factory lights. The owner was quick to answer questions and was very helpful.
I got the same lights a few months ago. Significant improvement over stock.
I’ll put another check in the 9012 HIR bulb column. Running a drop in LED bulb is a bad idea as the LED technology in general is not designed to play with a halogen assembly. You end up with a rear bright, unfocused hot spot right in front of the car which looks great to the driver but it wrecks the distance projection on the car. I’ve posted many times in these threads with links about why LED bulbs are a poor option in these cars.
A member of a forum I’m on has done extensive testing of a significant amount of headlamp bulbs including halogen and LED and the results were eye opening.
LEDs and then don’t drive at night unless it’s a DD. Too many deer running around at this point so not looking for a collision. Let a deer take on my 160k Camry.
I've been very pleased with mine. Are they the OMGHIDPROJECTOR light that I'd like in a dream world, no, but better than the average new halogen system I've encountered, including my Tacoma with Xtravision +100 bulbs. I was one of the few whom retrofitted HID didn't work out for, so this was a solution that was better than OEM without any of the drawbacks.

Yeah my car had non-pop up lights on it, which were awful, and I got a set of popups on Facebook marketplace. They had LEDs in them when I got them home, and they suck too.
I replaced mine with Auxbeam LED's plus added the relay system that keeps low beams on when the high beams are on. I can see glowing deer eyes from a 1000 feet away!

It's amazing that despite all the scientific data showing otherwise people keep thinking drop in LED bulbs are better. A member of a forum I'm on (linked above) does some extensive testing on LED bulbs and the results are fascinating. Yes, they put a TON of unfocused light right in front of the car, but they kill your distance vision, which is what you need to drive safely. I LOVED my retrofitted projector HID setup until I hit a bump in the road and the slop in the lifting arms caused the cutoff line to shake. That shake gave the car a strobe effect where I had more than one person pull over as I was following them, which sketched me out. The product quality was top notch and the problems I was having wasn't with the lamps themselves, but what it would have taken me to re-engineer the pop-up assembly to remove the slop would have been more hassle than it was worth. Plus, if my car sat for more than 5-6 days I'd have to drive it for 15 minutes before I had enough juice to get the lamps to pop-up. I like the idea of a high quality flush fixed lamp, but the costs and alignment issues are worth it for me.
If you don't want to spend an arm and a leg, LED bulbs are the way to go as they're huge improvement over stock. Not everyone wants to spend hundreds+ on headlights.
Totally agree. When one of my low beam Ultra Siverstars burs out, my low beams will be changed to HIR bulbs, as my high beams are already. It's pretty easy to trim the one tang that needs to be trimmed. I used dykes/diagonal wire cutters. HIR lighting is a HUGE upgrade, and its pretty easy to do. I wonder if the low beam HIR needs just that 1 tang trimmed, or????
I installed 9012/9011 bulbs by trimming the tabs on the bulb. Under $60 for four bulbs, easiest and cheapest upgrade. It went from bad to acceptable. If money is no object then get the projectors
Extremely happy with the product and customer service of super bright LEDs.com.
Mine have a lifetime warranty.
Great difference from stock
This photo comparison doesn’t do it justice. Not going to argue but I feel I have enough short and long throw of light on the road.

Apparently, the problem with regular 9012/9011s is that none of them have the proper tip to work correctly in the C5 housing. The ones from DSL apparently do. I will report back once mine arrive.
