To the people who are going to rely on AAA. Good luck with that. I value my car more than that. That would be my very last option when it comes to deal with a flat tire. To have God knows who come with God knows what and drag my car because of a flat, no thank you. The grand that I paid for a set of run flats is well worth the insurance and safety they provide.

I’m sure you don’t have any first hand experience with the Michelin +3 ZP. So how can you say my statement is misleading.

Just as I am sure you don't have first hand experience with every single tire available in every size that every person runs on a C5, you mean?

Okay. Cool. Glad we cleared that up.

I’m sure I have more experience than most with different tires on a C5.

Like you were mentioning, we use our C5 for many longer trips (800-1500 miles), and not uncommonly, are driving late into the evening. I would prefer not to be sitting on the side of the road waiting for AAA to come; or with traffic zipping by, leaning over my car pumping a fix-a-flat type glue into the tire and then topping it off with compressed air.
Interestingly, a 2019 Corvette ZR1 comes with run flat tires. Of course, those tires ONLY support 0-60 in about 3 seconds; top speed of 210+ mph and pulling over 1.2 Gs on track!

And at the risk of being repetitive, the last two times I had a flat tire, it was from hitting some debris on the road that I was unable to avoid. In BOTH cases, the debris put a cut the sidewall of the tire. This was because I saw the debris at the last moment, and cranked on the wheel, therefore avoiding running directly over the object with the tread of the tire, but catching it with the sidewall. So to all of you who advocate an air pump, patch kit, and or can of "slime", how do you propose to repair an inch long cut in the sidewall of the tire? Fortunately for me, those two incidents didn't happen with a car that didn't have a spare tire.

Just my $0.02 worth.............

They aren't worth neutering the responsiveness of your car, IMO.

One thing to consider is if you plan on driving long distances, try and buy a tire from a chain shop of some kind. That way you shouldn't have trouble finding a replacement. You're going to have a hard time finding a chingchong online tire in the middle of nowhere compared to say a Goodyear, Firestone, Michelin, etc.
X2!! When my runflats wore out, so did my like for them. Maybe it's my part of the country (Midwest), but I've never had a flat in my Corvette (Damn, now I'm in trouble!). Ride is much better, and so is grip, without runflats. Even with runflats, if you're on the trip you speak of, you're still going to have to take time out from the trip, and buy a new tire somewhere, because runflats are good for only 50-200 miles, MAX. So, as mentioned previously, go with a good name brand. If budget allows, I'd go with Michelin or Goodyear, but that's just me. Continental and Goodrich make a very good tire, too. Hope this helps......

X10 on AAA. Their road service is not near what it once was. Its really sad when you find out the hard way. Wife and I were with them for many years. We are no longer members. Wont go into specifics, but it is largely a territorial issue, and what little AAA pays the wrecker company to save you and your car. Theres more involved than that, but I digress....

I'm still on the fence if my next set of tires will be run flats.
I have the A/S 3 tires and have a couple issues that make me never want to buy them again.
First off, they are noisy as hell in my '16 coupe. I'll be trying to put sound baffling in the trunk, but I don't have high hopes.
The second issue I have is if you hit a pothole, there is a good chance you will split the sidewall. I've gone through 3 already.
Never and issue with the factory tires.
Since I daily drive my car, I need an all season tire, but when I split another one of these A/S 3's, I will switching brands.
