Hello. I went with Alpine because I trust their quality. I had the single din Alpinewhich was great but then switched to the double din and could not be happier.
I bought the Ecotric bezel from eBay and had a body shop paint it a contrasting color to match the outside and the waterfall.
Very pleased to break up all the black. New seats coming!

Turned out very nice Jim... What is the button for alongside the console?
My car came with a Sony XAV-AX5000 installed. It has a lot of good options and has good sound. I too prefer Pioneer products but this Sony is totally acceptable and I'll leave it.
I have a Sony double-din, probably 4-5 years old though, but I can't tell you how disappointed I am with it.
Sony products have been going down hill for awhile, go with Pioneer or Alpine as the others suggest.
I have Kenwood DD in my C5 and my truck and the C6 I use to have. They have all been great. But which ever you choose I would recommend purchasing it from Crutchfield.com. They know everything you need to fit it into each vehicle. They will prewire the adapter as well as send you instructions on how to remove the dash parts in your C5 (or any car) so you don't break anything trying to figure it out. Good luck

Crutchfield is a really good company. Bought my first aftermarket stereo, a German Blaupunkt head unit (radio/8 track unit-BOY-THAT sure dates me!!!) over 40 years ago. Huge selection, competitive prices, excellent customer service (what's THAT??).
I too have used Crutchfield in the past and will still do so when the price is right. If I can pick up the head unit elsewhere for a significant price savings I will do that but still get my harness adapter and other items, ala carte, from Crutchfield.

Yeah, I had a red faced Denon "pull out" in my Camaro in high school. Gen X totally!
I've got a sony AX1000 in mine and I'm happy with it. Originally I used one of the adapters to keep the bose, but ended up running new speaker wires and installing infinity reference 6.5" speakers all around with rockville 8" powered sub mounted to the back wall. It's plenty for such a small cabin and car-play is awesome!
I just finished installing this Jensen XV7020 head unit. All the bells and whistles. Bought a refurbished unit on Amazon, including the console and wiring harness from Crutchfield, I was all in for less than $400. Has BT, DVD, GPS, Sirus, Eq. and inputs tp steering wheel controls and an electric antenna. Think I’m going to cover the console in stretch black leather.
