purchased a ever start battery tender awhile back, went to connect it, red cable on positive black on negative, tender is reading cables crossed, so i put red on negative black on positive, now reading that it is charging? is it still safe to use? or take it back? 2004 corvette

did you hook up the permanent terminal connection? I have an issue with that on my C5 right now. Not sure if it is because i broke the negative ring terminal off and put my own on.
I did it the same as every other c5 I had, positive to the main 12v positive under hood and neg to battery neg.

Coming late to the party but if you end up taking the Battery Tender back, I would consider getting a CTEK. Lots of discussion and good debate on the Forum about the Tender vs CTEK. Do a search for detailed info but I believe the CTEK is a “healthier” choice. It is not only state of the art charger but also helps to maintain your battery. Like I said do a Sear h.
