Amazon seller kept me waiting almost a month for the ROEM-VET1 bose adapter only to cancel the shipping label. It was already overpriced and I can't even find another one. I already have my Joying unit from China so now I've got to look into speaker replacements.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Brand, sizes? They don't have to be super duper audiophile speakers but they should sound about as good as the current bose unit and be easy to install/fit properly.
I have the same question - and am also curious if there are crossovers or some type of amplifier in the doors, between Bose head unit and Bose speakers, that need to be bypassed/removed when replacing either the speakers, head unit, or both?
I was going to replace OEM head unit with a single DIN Sony high powered (built in amp) head unit, but Crutchfield says it won't work with the "amplifiers in the doors".

Yeah the bose unit has separate amps that powers the door speakers (the large ones not the tweeters) inside the door speaker housing, without the adapter they won't work.

Great - does this unit do the same as the unit mentioned in the initial post above?

I think it does, because the description says :
R. A. P. (Retained Accessory Power) function is retained
Retains the amplified door woofers with the use of a differential line converter
That's the issue with the Bose system, the woofers in the doors have their own built in amps which prevents you from just doing a simple head unit swap. So this seems to fix that. But I'm not 100% since my car has the PAC ROEM-VET1 adaptor that a stereo shop used on the install with a new head unit. But I can say the new head unit made the stereo sound better, even while reusing the crappy factory Bose speakers. (I just wanted a working stereo, wasn't trying to go high end)
