Santa, aka the wife, got me the Alpine ILX-W650 I’ve been looking at. I’ve got everything removed and because of the mismatch between the finish of the oem console and the replacement I purchased I decided to do a color match on the console. Turned out real nice. One coat of sealer, two coats of Pewter Metallic and two coats of clear. Waiting on the parking brake bypass to show up then I’ll finish up the harness and run the backup camera. Also installing the XM receiver and antenna.
Can't wait to see it installed. Looks good so far. What's the parking brake bypass you speak of? I haven't heard of that one yet. I'll have to google it.

So Alpine requires the parking brake to be set to turn on certain features like changing settings, Bluetooth connecting...things like that. Alpine also made it so the head unit looks for switched ground. You can’t just ground the parking brake wire off. The “switch” fools the head unit into thinking the parking brake has been set. A stupid feature but one today’s world requires. Protect people from driving down the road watching movies.
you did that by yourself? Wow! You are a pro, seriously. I am envious of your skills. I wish I could take that up. I went the easy way and got the metra bezel and it doesn't really match. Very, very well done!!!! Honestly I wish I could just paint my replacement license cover plate. You nailed this out of the park!!! Are our colors available in spray form?
I actually have my center console piece that got broken from the e-brake cracking it and if I could paint it like this, it would mask it. I'd love to be able to pull this off.

Thanks man. I won’t take full credit. My best friend has been a custom painter for 25 years. He’s got a paint booth in his shop. I did all the prep work, DA sanding and cleaning. I let him mix the paint and spray it. The paint is Nason Base that available from Oreillys. I think there’s companies out there that do a mix you can purchase in a rattle can. This was sprayed out of a gun
Wow that looks great, my car came with a cheaper dash trim and I cant stand how its matte and there is no texture. I might have to try painting mine now hmm.
PerryKing....you mentioned that a coat of sealer was applied. Do you know what sealer was used? Also, when you prepped the bezel, did you remove all of the original rubberized coating?

I know the brand of sealer was Nason. I didn’t remove all of the rubber coating from the aftermarket bezel. I did sand off all the texture from the OEM half of the console.
