Default Stock c5 z06 tire question.

Where are you guys getting your stock size c5 z06 front and rear tires at? I’ve inquired with a few places locally and I keep getting told either the fronts or the rears are not available at all. Anyone have any recommended places?

You say you've tried locally. Have you tried Tire Rack, or Discount Tire online?

you'll have to go either 255 or 275 up front, shouldnt be a problem finding the rears

I’d like to avoid 255 on a 9.5” wheel because it is stretching the surface of the tire and I don’t want to run 275 because the sidewall will rub my inner fender wells. The wheels are on my 2000 SS which is why a 275 on a 9.5” wheel will run when the wheels turn all the way one way or the other.

Yup and they don’t carry the same brands. To make it even better they either have only the fronts or only the rears of one tread type or another. I won’t run different tread patterns.

i have 255s on mine and they look fine... very minimal difference ... I doubt 275s would rub, doesn’t a 2000 SS come with 275s?

Yup 275/40/17 was the tire for the 98-02 Camaro SS, however the stock wheel size is 17x9” and not 17x9.5” I can try a 275 on it, but I’m trying to avoiding ripping up my fender wells.

You said you didn't want to run 255's or 275's, on the front. Only Michelin offers a 265/40/17 and they are back-ordered, for who knows how long.

Lots of C5Z owners are running 275 fronts and I've never read or heard of any clearance issues. A 275/40/17 only has about 1/4" taller sidewall, than a 265/40/17.

I also said in other posts that these wheels are going on my 2000 Camaro SS which runs a 17x9 wheel, that extra 1/2” does make a difference with the tire being a 275.

And you also said you didn't want a 255 or 275 so what's your plan now?

Just looked up the specs on a 2000 Camaro SS. 275/40/17 is the oem tire sizing.

Yes it is, I said that in a post above also. I’m going to run a 265/40/17 tire. The point of the post was to ask others where they are buying their OEM size tires. Not once did I ask “what other sizes can I run” and there’s a really good reason why I didn’t ask that, I already know the answer.

Hope you can find a pair. Since 255's and 275's are so plentiful, it just seems kinda strange that no one wants to build 265's.

I just got replacement Continentals for my '03 Z. I went up to a 275/40 front and stock 295 in rear.

I got them delivered for under $900 from online tires. This is my second order from them and had both orders in less than 4 days. They currently are running 5% off and free shipping. They had the cheapest prices when I shopped.

Onlinetires.com - Lowest Tire Prices on the Web. Period!

I run 275s o the front of my Z, lowered all the way down on stock bolts. It has never rubbed.

It seems like this question is best asked on a Camaro forum now that you've stated these wheels are not going on a Corvette. With 265s pretty much not available, I'm sure you're not the first to try to run the wider Z06 wheels on a Camaro so that could be more helpful.

Good Luck!
