Here is a photo of where the dashboard connects to the bracket. I am holding it in place because it was broken by the previous person who took the dashboard off (they managed to break quite a few things). So my plan is to plastic weld it back on. But I am still confused how they attach. What kind of screw is supposed to go here?
It looks like the thing sticking out under the oval is a tab but a photo or explanation would really help.

Maybe you need to send me a another picture of that black plastic piece that is broken from a few feet away so I can make sure we are on the same sheet of music.
I am thingking that piece that you are gluing back on meets up with that metal tab when the dash is in the car. The screw goes though it and into the metal tab hole.
Can you take a better picture of the dash area in question. Need it a bit further back, should show the door opening to the center stack.
I am thinking you may have something out of alignment.

Here are better photos. I’m sure I’m missing something to make these two things attach.
The knee bolster needs to be removed or down out of the way enough to access it. I was incorrect about accessing this through the hatch release access panel. I've slept since then.
