Just wanted to say hello to the group. Just purchased my first Corvette, a 2003 base model with the manual transmission. Only 38k miles but it hadn't been driven much in the past few years so it needed tires, TPMS sensors, and all the fluids changed out. All done and loving it
Been into cars all my life. Did the BMW thing (I do miss my e30), Miatas, a wierd 4x4 phase, and lately a Fiesta ST which I loved and a Challenger RT which was a little bit too much of a boat but had somehow missed the Corvette thing until now
I was building an "iron LS (truck 5.3 with the LS bore)" to maybe put in a C4 but just decided to do the C5 and save the trouble. Looking at eventually doing a cam once I make sure it's all sorted.
Looking forward to getting back into an actual sports car and really enjoying it so far!
Sweet. Pretty new to Vettes myself, felt the need to get that manual RWD V8 experience while I can.
Also had a Miata (the only Grand Tourismo car I could afford in the day) it could have been fun if it had some boost but it was stock and under powered AF. It would mostly just be wet/damp/musty at all times, while burning oil and screaming bloody murder holding 5k rpm down the highway in top gear. Then I went to a G20 and it had nice seats and a nice stereo and was manual...but front wheel drive and just kinda boring (faster than the Miata but that's not saying much). Then I got a base WRX and while it was fun at first to finally have a car with some torque and that wasn't a total dog in 2nd I kinda got numb to it, drama free understeer, foot to the floor out of every turn, felt practically the same in the wet, convert the clutch to smoke before you so much as chirp the tires on launch.
Now back to RWD to have another go with like 4x the horses of that old MX-5.
