You could try the toyo T1-Ss, they are much better in the rain but not as good at all as the stock F1 S/Cs on the dry from what I hear.
In the rain the standing water is the problem for the F1 S/Cs, You just have to slow down and don't drive with the criuse control on. When it rains, I drive the speed limit or less if its raining hard. The Z06 is my daily driver.
I just replaced my original rears at 25k miles with the F1 S/Cs again. The fronts should be good for another 4-6K.
I am going to seriously consider Michelin Pilot Sports. Dry traction rating per Tire Rack data is equal to the F1SCs but the wet traction and hydroplaning resistance is far superior with the Pilot Sports. The rears are very pricey @ $350 each. The fronts will require going to 275R40s rather than the stock 265R40s. Others have already posted that there is no problem going to this somewhat larger tire for the front. Rolling diameter is only a small fraction of an inch greater than stock.
Toyo Proxis T1-Ss are the only way to go. I put a set on my Z two weks ago and I LOVE THEM , they are quiet and are superb in the rain. I put a set on for $1061 from a local tire shop including 4 wheel alingment and road hazzrd warrenty and if you dont like them you can give them back within 30 days or 500 miles. E-mail me for the details.
Sorry we are going to miss seeing you guys at Joe's Friday but we have a company Christmass Party then.
The Pilots are a compromise between wet and dry adhesion. The AVS will outperform them in the rain and the F1s will run off and leave them in the dry. I have tested those two tires (AVS & Pilot) side by side. Anytime you see a truly directional tire you know it sacrificed some dry hold. It is obvious GM optimized the ZO6/F1 combo for dry traction. Goodyear is building some new directional super car tires that look promising but you can bet they will not be the equal of the F1 in the dry.
