Did you see the white ZO6 with just the 1953 front-end in the current Vette issue? That I could almost like. But putting those wings on the tail of a ZO6...not for me.
Just before the Monterey Historics near Carmel, I saw a C5 white convertible with the '53 treatment in person (plate was something like 1953 C5). It was parked and a crowd had gathered around. Looked pretty good up close and drew a lot of attention.
How much does it cost to f up a great car. I kind of like the front it kind of reminds me of some old european sports cars, the back is pretty ugly. Interesting though.
I have seen a white one and a red one in person. The pictures really don't do it justice. I actually love the look and am considering doing it to the 2004 convertible I'm ordering.
When I was at the dealer, I over heard them talking about the dealership getting one or two in. And the price tag is about $100k!!!! A bit pricey for a mutant vette. What was Chevrolet thinking.
Well you know how rumors are. I am just telling you what I over heard. Personally if they decide not to bring the car into production that would be fine with me.

It's an aftermarket kit company - some dealers may take one in for resale, but Chevy didn't build it.
Old school looks with modern day creature comforts, performance, and reliability. Why not? Many people buy cars for looks and differentiation: the 1953 C5 conversion looks pretty cool in person. I didn't care for the pics either, but when I saw one in person and a crowd of people admiring it, I changed my mind.
The conversion costs $30K. FRC Tom's links show great pics of the conversion process. See also http://www.aatcars.com/ for more info (and check out the mid-engined Northstar-powered Heldorado if you prefer a modern look).
BTW, the headlights come from the 993 Porsche, and the screens from the 356 Porsche.
I found the car I saw in Carmel: license plate is 1953-C5 (from WA). See it here http://www.chazcone.com/50th/ . Lots of good pics as well as locations of the ~40 cars around the country. Check one out in person. See how other people react. You might change your mind.
