Hey guys wondering if anybody has Carshield warranty on their C5. I was quote $89.00 a month with $100. deductible. It's a month to month policy. I can cancel anytime. What do you think?? Says it covers most everything. Takes 40 days and 250miles before it takes effect. THKS.
I would personally rather put $89 a month in a jar and let that be my warranty.
There is no way I can imagine one of those "car repair warranties" being worthwhile on a C5. Now an extension to a factory warranty on a new car is one thing, but on a car as old as a C5, I bet they have a million tricks buried in the policy to deny coverage.
There is no way you can pay on this policy for a few months, and get them to cover an expensive repair bill, and then cancel. The company would go broke because everyone is thinking the same thing. About how to game the insurance company. but they must be watching out for it. Now maybe, if you legitimately threw a connecting rod on a stock engine or something, 3 months after beginning the policy, they would have to buy you a new engine. But what are the odds of that happening ?
Car Shield is absolute garbage. They are the WORST to deal with at our dealership. Hours upon hours for almost nothing. I wouldn't give those clowns a dime.
If you're buying a c5 source your own parts do research. It's a 17-24 year old platform if you want a warranty get a C8. Don't give those charlatans any money.

Lots of truth to this. If you do look into this further, be sure to check out the fine print.
Shop around. Talk with a reputable mechanic as to which one gives HIM the least hassle. I got a policy from Endurance that I haven't used yet, but within 6mos. of it's expiration I'll have the car gone over with a fine tooth comb to see what needs to be addressed!!
You would be WAY better off just putting that premium aside each month to go towards repairs. Think about it, these guys are making a profit. That means in general, they pay out less than you pay in. You're not going to get discounts from the mechanic for this policy (like you get from your doctor with health insurance), so you're better off just saving the money so you'll have it if/when you need a repair. I get spam calls from jokers like this almost everyday, don't give them a dime of your hard earned money.
