As for the Corvette coming out of the factory with Mobil 1 oil, so does the Mercedes-Benz AMG line up, Porsche 911, Lexus LFA, and the Nissan GT-R. That's a lot of performance cars with Mobil 1. I'm sure there is more too.
Doesn't even NASCAR use Mobil 1 oil?
My take is as follows: Your scar came from the factory with Mobile 1 in it. I can honestly say that GM Engineers didnt tell someone to go the store, Hey Get some of that there "Mobile 1" and lets try it out. They did some of their own research, and filled thousands of engines with Mobile1, there has to be a reason. It was the way your car engine broke in with. So i'd stay with MOBILE ONE! nuff said
They probably got a deal from Mobil as some sort of promotional campaign. Mobil is probably not in the top five brands of synthetics. Corvettes are not some sort of leaded crystal. Any name brand of synthetic would work great. I’ve used Valvoline synthetic in all my vehicle for the last 30 years. Before I retired I drove a lot. Kept my vehicles for about 200000 miles (until the rusted out from salt on Michigan roads). Never had a lubrication problem with any of these GM cars and trucks. Some that I pulled a heavy trailer with.

yea. Cause mobil bought their way in there also.
Nascar. LMAO sure same oil in your Toyota Camry
My car is due for an oil change, has 112,000 miles on the odometer. Mobil 1 oil changes are difficult to get around here, one shop uses Kendall Synthetic GT-1 MAX Motor Oil. Is this a comparable substitute?
Kendall GT-1 Max is not dexos approved. So, I don't think it comparable.
But Kendall does make "GT-1 Dexos" 5w30 that is approved, which is probably fine to use.
I use regular Mobil 1. But I've read on BITOG, Mobil 1 EP is possibly "better", with more PAO in the base stock. But if you're not doing extended oil change intervals, it probably doesn't matter.
