Just wondering, how many of you miss your previous Corvette(s) with the smell from your pre-environmental, no fuel injected, big Holly, full cam corvette with side pipes (my 72 had an Edlebrock manifold with 2 4B Holly’s, a monster) when you stepped on it? The roar that you heard was from the engine, not the sound designed mufflers. I do.
I keep looking at C3's and C2's to add to my fleet. I love the early cars and the rawness that comes with them. I have other old cars too though so they fill that need. Every time I jump in the C5 though it puts a smile on my face. It just does everything so well.
Had six C3's. I enjoyed only needing a box of wrenches and a socket set to fix everything. One C4 and one C5 vert later, time moves on for better comfort and performance using normal pump gas for much better mpg. Sorry, it's 2021 and 1969 is gone for me..
Missed my 2003 50th Anniversary vert so much that I had 2 one in 2003 the other in 2004 and now one again in 2020! Total of 3 50th anniversary 2003 verts!
Hell no. Last year I bought a ‘77 to go with my C5Z. It was gone six months after buying it as it was the worst vehicle ownership I’ve ever had. The leaks, squeaks, rattles, and just the fact that the thing was work to drive. Even the ‘84 I owned a few years ago (actually was a great car) felt like it was built in another century, and yet they were only seven years apart. The saying “if you loved the cars of your childhood, don’t buy one” is true.
My first job out of college was as a photographer and writer for a consignment shop that dealt in classic cars. They say don't meet your heroes, and boy are they right.
It completely soured the allure and idea of ever owning a muscle car for me. I got to drive some stuff that makes guys twice my age drool and dream, and I wouldn't want to drive any of it again. The cars that were the most fun were the resto mods with modern engines and upgraded chassis. The all original and numbers matching stuff is nothing but art and conversation to me at this point.
Don't miss my C3 at all, always needed something done to it not to mention constant header leaks. There's a lot to be said about wash it, wax it, put gas in it and go for a ride of the C5.
I fell in love with Corvettes after seeing an orange 68 or 69 when I was a child. Fast forward a decade, and I bought a rubber bumper C3 with 100k miles. I loved it the first year of ownership, but grew tired of it since it was all show and no go, and the suspension bushings etc, were shot and the car handled poorly. As many know, mechanically, the C3 was pretty much a C2. So we're talking 1963 tech. I sold it to a friend and didn't own another Corvette until this C5. I still like the looks of the C3. I could see myself owning a steel bumper C3 as a Sunday driver, but the C5 is a much better 20 year old car, than my C3 was, when it was a 20 year old car.
I really miss my bought new 1977 L82 AT. I only owned it for 18 months. Sold it because I was moving 500 miles and already had 1 car to ferry. And no garage or carport in the new city. Great car!

I hear you, rr. I had a 1969 4 speed 427/390. It was stock. I wonder how much maintenance, and.how much fuel economy, I'd have if it had a modern T56, and fuel injection? That is one I'd love to have back, I'll tell you! I'd buy it back immediately, if I could buy it back for the price I sold it for 1982. You would too. If you guessed a sale price of $5,200, you would be correct :c ry........

I miss my 99 Nassau Blue Coupe... Beautiful color. Of the others, my c4, c6 and c7, the only one I really miss is the c7. But happily behind the wheel of my 03 50th anniversary now.
My 58 had dual quads and on a hard corner turn it would leak gas--club members had the fix, but my 64 and 65 were my first entry in fuel injection and all since have had FI. Dont miss the raw gas smell at all.
