So I had Ridies make me some custom seat covers of my own design. It's going to the upholstery shop on Friday. My question is I have seen some people post about adding some material on top of the wire spring supports before installing new foam. I guess these seats are notorious for cutting the seat foam. I ask the shop about adding the material and they told me it makes the seats really stiff. Anyone have any experience with doing this?

Yes, do it. The wires cut through the foam and you sit much lower and, eventually may cut all the way through. Just a jute pad about half-an-inch thick will do. Does not make it stiffer, although it was noticeable that I was sitting higher - maybe an inch - when I replaced the worn and cut seat foam with new foam and the jute padding.

When I did mine last year I used burlap on the springs, and cut small rubber fuel line and used locktite glue for the aluminum sides of the seat pans. I wish I'd taken pictures but it worked out great.
The wires on my drivers side seat bottom had cut all the way through as well.
Almost anything with a little durability and thickness will work, just secure it in place as they're showing
I agree Jute pad or burlap will do the trick, and shouldn't make the seat stiffer at all. The big difference in feel will be in the new seat foam that isn't cut or broken down.
That looks great. Not a fan of the door pull wrap, personally - but like you posted before on FB, I think the lower panels being wrapped would tie it in like the Mod Red cars are from the factory.
Nice looking seat! Looking forward to the completed interior.
Unique look with the metal trim, but I always wondered if the metal would get hot sitting in summer sun.

Wow. Those look great. Way to make it your own. Is Ridies providing any more custom interior components besides the seats?
yes. They made tge console door cover. And I bought 3 hides with seats ti cover the lower door panels. Glove box door and knee bolster like the factory cars. I have the shift boots but I'm not sure I will use them.
