Default Shopping for tires

I’m researching tires for my 02 z06. The tires I’m looking at are General G-Max RS. The closest size they offer is a 295-30-18. My Bridgestone potenzas are 295-35-18. Is the smaller aspect ratio gonna change the way the car looks? My car is lowered a pretty good bit. Has anyone had any experience with General tires on a C5? Thanks

You would be better off with the 285/35x18 size, they are 25.9" diameter vs the 25" for the 295/30x18 tires.

Looks like they offer that tire in a 255/40R17. That would work well on the front with the 285/35R18 on the rear.

go to tiresize.com.
you enter the size of the tires and get stats and a graphic to show you how it would look.
I don’t think a 30 profile would look right with a 45 in the front of the car. Too much difference in sidewall size.

The reason I asked is a 255/45/17 is 26" tall while a 295/30/18 is only 25" tall. Trying to run a taller front tire, than the rear, is a sure recipe for AH/TC problems.

I’m also looking at continental extreme contact sport, how many of you have had these tires and drove your car in 20 degree weather? Will it really damage the tire?

Never had a set of the Continentals but have had a car with summer tires of various brands for the last 28 years. I live in Michigan and stored for the winter and always seemed to wait too long to put it in storage which was a few miles away. Never seemed to damage tires but traction was extremely poor and probably not safe when it was 20 - 30 degrees.

I have a set of Conti DWS06 All seasons and they were fine for autocross as well as year round use. I had them on my Challenger as well. The absolute worst cold weather tires I’ve ever had were the original Goodyears that came on both my C5’s (both were low miles when I got them).
